I have been invited to a baby boys Baptism. I need some idea of what sort of present to buy him.

His parents are not very religious. He is the first child in the family.

Any ideas please.

At the Greek orthodox Baptism I went to - the gifts were all money.

The parents are both Australian is service is at an Anglican Church.

When our two grandsons had their Naming Days they got heaps and heaps of silver photo frames.....and a few money boxes too.

A few gifts that our daughters appreciated for their sons were............a silver birth certificate cylinder with their childs details engraved on it.............a voucher for professional photos..........and money.

Flashie, if you dont mind my asking, what happens with the money, was it put into an account for the children?? I am attending a double Christening, similar scenario to the OP, not particularly religious parents etc. Money would be far easier IMO, but, the family is quite well off, so money seems, I dunno, moot??

Please keep the suggestions coming people, I need help too!

Buy a rose bush... (or any shrub/tree of your liking) and have a little tag engraved with the childs name, birth date, and baptism date on it. Attach it to the plant and gift wrap the pot in some lovely blue foil with chunky ribbon.

can be a *something different* idea

Silver trinkets are not so much as appreciated these days, and do tend to be left in the box at the back of the cupboard 😞

Lis.......yes the money was put into his account.

When we went to a Naming Day of twins we bought them twin cabbage patch dolls..............but I am guessing it is not twins for the one you are going to soon.

What about a Childrens Book of Bible stories. Even though the parents are not overly religious, the child is still having a Baptism in an Anglican Church and not a Naming Ceremony.

There are a lot to choose from and they are short concise stories of some of the better known Bible stories.

I know of a family who are similar to the parents of this child and their children were given a couple of the Chill den's Bibles when they had their Baptisms. The older child has loved reading a story each night.

IMO such a common gift, and useless and tacky!

Why not just ask the parents?

There are so many useful baby toys or clothes - please not another piece of junk that is shoved in the back of the cupboard.

Seriously...how many people like silver photo frames? No one under the age of 50.
