Baby Gift Help!

I need an idea of what to buy a baby for a christening, the big problem, he's my grandson and I don't have much money to spare ( just around $100)

Any help will be appreciated.

You would be better off posting your question on the Community Spirit board which is for general chit chat.

For what it's worth though,$100 is well & truly more than enough to spend on a baby unless your name is Elizabeth & you have new great grandson named George LOL

Congratulations on your new grandson.

I suggest anything from the "Bunnykins" range. Money box, plate, cup, etc. Not greatly expensive and oh so useful. (Melamine and china)

We just had the same situation. We ended up buying a small white and gold angel pendant on a fine gold chain from Prouds for $70.

It was my DIL who suggested buying the baby something that she could keep and wear when she was older and for a long time. My DIL tells the baby that it is Poppa and Nannas angel.

I gave each of my grandchildren a similar set to this, having their name and birth date engraved on each piece. Something to treasure and keep. Enjoy his specail day

It could be engraved with his name and dob and be a wonderful keepsake to be brought out each and every one of his birthdays.

An album with photos of who he comes from or family stories or maybe a personal object of your own with a record of its story and yours.

I'm not wishing to shuffle you off quickly but sometimes we never really get to know our grandparents so something personal is a link and through them a link to their parents and grandparents.

At first I thought what an odd present for a boy and then I thought how great! It would need a special place for only his birthday each year.It could be passed on to him in the future for his childrens names to be added. OK, that's skipping a few years.

Em, I love that idea too. My dad died this year and fortunately he was much better at keeping a record of family photos than I am. It is so good to look back on them now and I really appreciate it.

yeah, I know what you're saying and I do get the value in the sentimental gifts, but over the next 18 years, that bank account has the potential to build, and could lead to the foundations for great things. School, travel, car, house, business - money can make dreams happen.

I have the knife my grandpa used to peel apples with while we sat on the front steps of the house and a blue and white striped milk jug that my grandma used every day, they're woth more to me than the christening mugs etc because they come with memories, and to me life is about making memories. So something quite simple can be fine for the sentimental value, and a bit of money put aside for when you're ready to take on the adult world can be the foundation for making even more memories for the rest of your life.
