The billionaire businessman has taken a swipe at ex-military personnel as part of his suspicions involving the Electoral Commission.

Billionaire businessman and political hopeful Clive Palmer has taken a swipe at ex-military personnel as part of his suspicions involving the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC).

As his race for the Queensland seat of Fairfax enters the closing phases, Mr Palmer said that despite the outcome, and a stalled Federal Court injunction, he planned to pursue legal avenues probing the polling process.

"One of the things I'm concerned about in Australia is all our divisional returning officers are ex-military officers of the Australian armed forces," Mr Palmer said on ABC TV.

"I think the military shouldn't be involved in a democracy."

Mr Palmer has questioned why 760 more lower house ballot papers than Senate ballot papers were returned from a polling booth at Coolum Beach in his electorate, pointing at security lapses.

CLIVE Palmer may have demanded more transparency and accountability in parliament and voting but he is facing allegations his standards may not extend to his own party.

Mr Palmer used the ABC's QandA show to criticise the AEC accusing it of everything from being out of date to suggesting there could be a military conspiracy secretly pulling the strings.

But he has come under criticism on social media after fielding a question from Palmer United 2013 election candidate Tim Kelly without disclosing his relationship.

"Clive made a point earlier, why are we in 2013 still using pencils and in America they at least have a computer system and other countries," Mr Kelly asked.

"What is the go with the pencil and paper?"

Mr Palmer, who has extensively criticised the AEC for its failure to embrace technology, quickly jumped on the question.

"You can rub it out," Mr Palmer said. "You have to show your ID when you go on an aeroplane or when you go into a country."

"But when you vote you can come and vote 10, 20 or 30 times if you like."

But eagle-eyed viewers of the show quickly spotted the striking resemblance between Mr Palmer's questioner and his candidate for the seat of Sydney.

...or maybe he just says something stupid sp people can get worked up about it while there is something more important that does not get attention because everyone is jumping on that......

it is likely to be a tactical distraction from something else he does not want us to pay attention to.

Of course he is......as extreme far right the Libs have become in recent times (except for Turnbull) they weren't far enough right for Palmer.
