Yesterday was a big day in California. The world’s largest solar thermal power plant began feeding energy into a power grid for the first time. A huge milestone for renewable energy.

They were suppose to build one in whyalla or Port Augusta.

The town actually petitioned to have one built to replace the coal fired stations.

Those who worked in the coal ones that are nearly due to be closed would be able to easily adapt to working at once of these.

To my understanding, the mirrors heat a coductive liquid inside a tower and pipes, this is then used to create steam and turn a turbine.

During night or large cloud heated coolent can stay heated inside a huge thermos container for a few hours.

They have these in Spain and a few South American countruies, they were designed and built by Australian's who were unable to start an industry here.

Do not count on seeing anything like that here because of the LNP ideal of not being able to get something for nothing.

Mr Abbott today toured the local factory of OneSteel, before holding a business round table on the tax.

He says there's no way many industries can afford to cut down on carbon emissions.

"Whyalla will be wiped off the map by Julia Gillard's carbon tax, Whyalla risks becoming a ghost town, an economic wasteland if this carbon tax goes ahead," he says.

Yes, they did not suddenly close up shop with the introduction of a carbon tax , as predicted by our genius PM.

YES, WE MADE THIS PERSON PRIMINISTER........the same guy who told Australia that Olympic **bleep** expansion was canned because of the Carbon tax....

Funny thing is there will be a new uranium mine built in South Australia hcih was planned as early as March this year.

There would be lots of new jobs if we start building such power plants. But TA scraped the fund.

Yes, getting power from something the just needs to be manufactured is a stupid idea.
