It’s been embarrassment after embarrassment for Australia at the Warsaw climate change meeting.

"Australia was awarded Fossil of the Day on the summit’s first day. The award is given by the international Climate Action Network to the country which has done the most to block progress at the climate change negotiations on that day.

Australia also topped the Fossil of the Day Awards on Wednesday beating out Turkey. This one was for seeking to repeal the carbon price (hence “hurling Australia back into the abyss of time”, as opposed to the more than 40 countries, states and provinces who have moved into the modern times with a carbon price) and also stripping $435 million in funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency and removing $10 billion of investment in clean energy."

Former UN Climate Chief, Yvo de Boer, upbraided Australia for its failure to send a Minister."

The PEOPLE of Australia voted for Abbott to get rid of the carbon tax and all that goes with it. He won with a thumping majority. The left and greens LOST and lost badly yet you and the left seem to think that you should still push your agendas onto the majority of Australia.

YOU LOST get used to it as the MAJORITY of Australia is happy and voted the extreme labor/left/greens out and DONT care about this useless talkfest....

Seems Tony Abbott is actually far from alone in not sending a minister to the UN’s latest talkfest in global warming. From The Guardian:

According to statistics released by the UN, over 10,000 people will spend the next two weeks swarming through its corridors, busily going about their business of trying to find a solution to climate change.

But only 134 of these will be ministers, in spite of the fact that there will be 189 countries attending the conference…

The number of ministers registered to attend does not always reflect the final head count, with the potential for attendees to drop out at the last minute.

But who cares if the conferences grow increasingly useless. Free travel! Moral grandstanding!

But in spite of the overall poor ministerial attendance, the number of participants at this conference has increased from last year—precisely 10,106 are registered to attend, compared to the 9004 who turned up last year in Doha.

That figures. Warsaw is nicer than Doha.

How embarrassing not mention that little fact and only make it about their hate of Abbott....... The left are getting more and more embarrassing as each day passes...

FOR THE first time in several years Australia will not be represented by a minister at a major round of international climate change negotiations, with Greg Combet set to miss talks in Doha starting next week.

Mr Combet said he was not attending because after a long year bedding down Australia's carbon price he would be spending some time working on issues in his manufacturing portfolio.

''I am going to spend a bit of time on my other portfolio area. We are able to do that because we have carbon price implemented, European Union emissions trading scheme linking agreed, and Kyoto protocol second commitment period all done,'' he said.

Combet didn't go because he'd already been part of a government who had done the right thing.he sent representaives. at that point we were ahead of the game you see. Hunt isn't going mainly to avoid his complete turnabout from his masters thesis on carbon trading. it would be embarrassing turning up to an event were everyone knows you've sold out for the sake of power.

The Federal Government is changing the way it involves the military head of its border protection operation in its weekly media conferences, saying it wants to protect the integrity of the Australian Defence Force.

Immigration Minister Scott Morrison says Operation Sovereign Borders Commander General Angus Campbell will no longer be present for the entire weekly briefing.

General Campbell says three asylum seeker boats arrived in Australia in the past week, carrying a total of 163 asylum seekers and eight crew.

Two boats arrived at Christmas Island, one on Sunday and one on Monday.

General Campbell also confirmed a boat arrived in Darwin on Monday.

Mr Morrison refused to answer questions in Parliament this week about the boat that arrived in Darwin, saying he did not want to "undermine" the operation.

General Campbell says 97 people were transferred offshore in the past week, 67 to Manus Island and 30 to Nauru.

He says 31 people voluntarily returned to Iran and Iraq during the period.

General Campbell says Indonesia, supported by Australian authorities, arrested three "facilitators" and disrupted two "potential ventures," in the past week.

He says Malaysia, supported in a similar fashion by Australia, disrupted two "additional potential ventures".

time to come clean for the government i think, if they want to risk more damage keep up the secrecy . the weekly briefings are a joke.
