The illuminati - any opinions here?

Well I am working with some interesting youngsters at the moment, the 1 thing they wanna talk about constantly is the illuminati.

Now I had no idea what it was so googling, asking round, reading up and I still have no idea LOL

I wanna laugh it all off but the scary thing is these teens REALLY believe and I mean REALLY believe that this is all true.

Like passionately believe & wanna discuss etc etc They think 2Pac was killed by them and now this Fast & Furious dude.

So anyone else had family into this stuff? I get that they listening to American rappers but I cant believe how serious they taking this (Males & females)

You think this just a passing fad??

Yeah Bob Ive been googling and what not, I didnt know the Da Vinci Code had it in it, Im just astounded by how much these kids believe it - it scares me a bit LOL

I read about them in the Da Vinci Code as well, not that I'd really take a novelists writings as the gospel truth, but even novelists have to do a lot of research to put a credible work together.

I think your friends might be confused, easy to be, with so much misinformation on the internet.

Hi lobs, I did find this...

1. The Order of the Illuminati, a secret society whose name means “Enlightened Ones,” was founded in 1776 by Adam Weishaupt (1748-1830), a former Jesuit and professor of canon law at the University of Ingolstadt.

2. The two central figures in the organization were Weishaupt and Adolph Franz Friedrich Ludwid Baron Von Knigge. The members of the Illuminati are known to have favored free-thinking and radical politics.

3. At the height of its power, the Illuminati comprised more than 2000 members in Europe. It was the elite club to be a part of. No, Black people weren’t in it.

The last official existence of the Illuminati came in 1784 when the ruler of Bavaria banned all secret clubs in 1784. Membership fell apart, Adam Weishaupt was ousted and the Illuminati for all intents and purposes ceased to exist.

The Illuminati and the Freemasons are two totally different entities. They’re not the same and you should probably stop saying they are.

6. The New World Order theory was a bit of anti-Jewish propaganda dreamed up by Nesta Webster in the early 20th century. She wrote that the Freemasons and Illuminati were powered by Jews and planned the French Revolution and were planning a New World Order.

10. The Illuminati’s history was that of a non-religious anti-Christian sect. So aligning them with devout Christians is a contradiction.

By the same token tho they could still be around just as the Freemasons are as a sort of reincarnation of the first lot.

Instead of trying to find out yourself, let the kids have a ball for a lesson or so and see what their take is on it

Don't worry about scary, all things are scary for fun when you're young.

i've heard its a hot topic among teenage boys. looking at the standards of journalism in this country its no surprise they believe in this stuff, fgs murdoch convinced a lot of people there is no problem with the climate, and that tone was/is a better leader than julia gillard.

some of those apply to sections of both camps. a cult is a word to describe a religious or otherwise group that the person describing doesn't like.

Religion suprisingly sounds like non-religion from above. The only difference between religion and cult is its social acceptability. If it's socially acceptable it's religion.
