Did you know the word was trademarked?

Someone has just found out that Ford could be too, where do you look to find out?

You could try google, I know in the USA they have a data base for trademarks.

I can understand the logo being trademarked, but the word? I did have a problem once with the word facebook, I guess that is understandable to a point.

So if I sketch a ford car / print it and try and sell it, it's a trademark violation? Seems a bit over the top.

I don't think it's the same thing Donna.

If you are using the Movember reference then most buyers would think that it was to raise money for prostate cancer research. At least I would. Have you had any complaints?

Not one joono, in fact both eBay and paypal have purchased for fund raisers on many occasions. The word is trademarked though and the listings were reported. Movemeber is everywhere and so is ford lol!

Thinking about it now, I sell vintage paper collectables with auto logos on them.

Holden, Datsun, Beer, Whiskey etc etc. I have to put the name of the product

into the title - it's one of the key search word for my buyers.

Is that the sort of thing you're talking about, or am I just not getting it?

At least it's December now, no worries about Movember for 11 months, lol

Yes that is exactly the problem, you can be restricted from selling so be very careful. You need to be careful using logos and brands

Thanks donna. But if I am selling vintage (read old 2nd hand) wouldn't that be the

same as selling my old car? I would stil;l have to say what make it is. I don't see

how that adds up to trademark infringement. I don't sell new items

It's also called trading off, which means trading off the work of another.

So if you're selling genuine ford paper products, it's not trading off ford's hard work.

For Movember, if you were selling something for your own profit and using Movember as a selling point, it is a breach of trademark and just as importantly, it's trading off the charity's hard work.

Most charities purchase to raise money don't they? I know the stock that I sell personally a portion goes to charity and the end user also uses it to raise money for movember but I do understand that trading off is a moral issue. I wonder if pink ribbon is trademarked?
