Dishwashers. Which brand and why.

I think ours is about to die so it's time I did some thinking about a replacement.
Which brands would you recommend, (from personal experience. I know I can google reviews) and why.
Speed, good spot free drying, and quietness are high on my list of requirements.

I highly recommend Bosch, they are a little pricey but are excellent, quiet and will last. I recently got a Bosch washing machine and a clothes dryer, both are fantastic, expensive to buy but economical to run. DO NOT buy an LG dishwasher, that's what i have, only got it last year and it's rubbish - brother in law has Bosch dishwasher and that's what i am getting next.

We have had our one for years it is Asko,...............but it died too, but when we buy another one, we will get the same brand, it is considered to be one of the best.

It never skipped a beat, until now, but like I said, it is yrs. old.

I agree dont buy anything that is LG or Fisher & Pykal........F & P are very expensive to get repaired.

the dishwasher we have is pretty good, limited edition model, getting on a bit but still works well. Looks great in any kitchen, runs pretty cheaply too. doesnt like to start early in the morning though, dont know why

Heehee, the only brand i have dealt with is smeg and a no brand old thing, couldnt get any of them to dry, but the smeg doesnt makes a sound, to the point you have to touch it to feel if its working

Yes F&P are also rubbish, will never ever buy anything F & P again. Chose the LG dishwasher at the time because it had a really really hot option, turned out that whenever I used that option it tripped the power or something and half the house lost power. Tried to get it fixed under warranty and the bloke who turned up basically told us not to use that option.

Both of my sisters and my mum have F&P dish drawers. They love 'em. But I'm also a bit wary of F&P.

I have an Asko, I love it. Quiet, does a great job and has never needed repairing, I've had it for about 8 years. Came highly recommended by the sales guy who had about 10 brands to offer, some cheaper, some dearer.

Apparently fisher & paykel drawers can only be repaired by F & P, so if anything goes wrong with them they're really expensive.

I know someone who had F&P dishwasher and also a washing machine........both cost the earth when they had to be repaired.

For me F & P is a little like a lucky dip, you might get a good one but you could get a lemon.

1st choice definately Smeg....had one for 20 years and never missed a beat until the week I sold the house

I currently have a Blanco (a gift). It's now 4 years old, washes very well even on the quick wash cycle which I use all the time. Start to finish 20 minutes. Not as quiet as the Smeg but that's due to the way it is plumbed.

A lot of the noise you get from them is when it empties...you hear it because of the waste pipe. My old Smeg was plumbed directly out and not via the waste of the sink.

Love my F&P washing machine. It's 10 years old. 18 months ago (or round about that time) I had a new computer fitter at a cost of under $300. Local fellow came out ( no call out fee) checked the whole machine before suggesting it was ok to replace the computer. Drum etc was in great shape. Has done a lot of washing!!!!! 😞 including tradies work clothes, nappies etc.

My daughter has the smaller model to mine 9 years old and has never missed a beat.

F&P dish drawers are the best.

I have put them into the last 3 houses we have had. I also specify them for residential and small commercial architectural jobs I do.

I have never had a problem and never heard of a problem even when I have put them into commercial premises where they might run 4 or 5 loads a day.

Why i like them:

You don't have to bend over to stack and unload.
They fit heaps in - I reckon about another half of an ordinary dishwasher.
There are 2 drawers so one can be a clean stack whilst the other can be dirty stack.
You can do a small wash by using a single drawer (great when it is only 2 people in the house) or load them both up for a huge dinner party wash.
You can stack things up in them without things falling to the side.
You can do a fast wash which takes about 15mins for those items that don't need 'scrubbing' - tea cups, glasses, side plates etc.

I also have a F&P fridge. The last one died after 7 years but only because we moved moved so often. Personally I find them the best designed fridge of all on the market.

The only issues I hear about with F&P are the cheap stuff in the range, particulkarly the cheaper washing machines. We've never had to have repairs done to the dishwashers. We did have repairs to the old fridge but we did it through a local fridge repair guy recommended by F&P.

But anything cheap is going to be a dog.

I must be psychic! It died for good this morning

So we have just been out and bought a Westinghouse (please don't start telling me all your horror stories about them ) Main reasons were because it fitted the space, it fits my plates and tall glasses the best and it was a very good price (marked down). And they can deliver it this arvo

had a asko i sold because i found doing the dishes by hand easier and darn sight more economical

(washers are a waste of space and energy imo)

I'm with you joz.Hand washing for me too.Just buy lots of crockery etc and you only have to wash up once a fortnight 😊
