just how boring dull and dead is this forum of late it seems that many of the regulars that gave this now dull dead forum life are on a holiday and the masters have there wish a dead boring dull colourless forum thats about as interesting as watching grass grow

there isnt even a posts from the 1 line specialist bashing abbott .... just fluffy nothing boring dull posts now of here

We are currently entertaining (feeding) a group of magpise in our back garden. One member of the group is a baby - well, I say baby, it is actually bigger and fatter than its parents and should be quite capable of foraging for itself; instead it sits on the ground, fluttering its feathers and squawking 'feed me. feed me,' till the parent birds stuff food down its little gob just to shut it up. (now what on earth suddenly made me think of that?)

YouTube suspends Prime Minister Tony Abbott's YouTube account

TONY Abbott may claim he's "delivered on his promise", but over the weekend a glitch on video site YouTube meant his message was taken down for 'deceptive content'.

Over the weekend Abbott released a video titled A Message from the PM - Delivering on Our Promises .

In the clip Mr Abbott describes a growing national confidence and promises to "scrap the carbon tax, end the waste and get the budget under control".

"From talking to people around our country, my sense is that confidence is returning," he says.

He claims the Federal Government has made "big progress in border protection" and boasts last month was the first since 2009 that has "gone without the arrival of a single illegal boat".

"The people smugglers are finally getting the message that this country is under new management," Mr Abbott says.

"It's been a remarkable turnaround in only a few months. Our policies are working."

But it seems others see it differently.

Soon after it was released, the Prime Minister's video was suspended by YouTube after social media users claimed it contained 'deceptive content'.

YouTube's guidelines state videos are reviewed when "a video gets flagged as inappropriate". YouTube then suspended Mr Abbott's entire account.

Wouldn't surprise me if people who'd previously been on a good wicket via people smuggling would now crawl out of the woodwork complaining about the curtailment of that very lucrative industry

To them I say this: volunteer your own home, safety, energy, time and money to illegals, by all means

But do not volunteer one jot of my money or safety, thanks very much

We pay taxes, regardless of what it is spent on, asylum seekers, education, health, roads, welfare..............or politician perks.

They don't increase taxes by what is needed.............. it is just divided up the way they choose.

ele, I love magpies, we haven't had any here for a long time - they have the best song of all australian birds (my opinion). We do get a lot of Butcher birds though and those enormous channel billed cuckoo's.

We've had to employ some 'tough love' with the magpies. We were feeding them on our deck, more or less on demand, but it had got to the stage where they were hanging around permanently in numbers of up to 10 or 12; so now we only feed them twice a day, we've cut down the amount we give them and and we scatter it all over the back lawn so they have to forage for it. The willy wagtails used to give them curry during the nesting season, but they've quietened down a lot over the last few weeks.

We also have two butcher birds - a baby and a parent - who come sometimes, but they are more timid than the magies.

We put out seed for the parrots too, we get 28s (ringnecks) Regents parrots,Galahs, Corellas and the very occasional Red Capped Parrot.

We used to get lots of Red Caps, but they built a huge new housing estate not far from us which they advertised as "A village in a forest by the sea.' Of course the first thing to disappear was the forest and with it all the Red Caps.

We had the whole Butcher family not long ago, mum, dad the2 babies, the nest must have been in one of the Turpentine's just behind our back fence, they are a beautiful bird, but deadly.

Since some wattle birds have kind of taken over our garden, we don't get as many small birds as we used to. We do get the occasional King Parrot, they are so tame - just sit and watch you if you approach them. Every morning and afternoon we get lots of wonderfully noisy rainbow lorikeets, they set off our pet bird - Henry - who gets all excited and screeches (talks) back at them.
