An Afghan asylum seeker has pleaded guilty to indecently groping seven teenage girls at a Sydney swimming pool.

Mohammad Salem Nazari, 33, had originally blamed his poor swimming ability on what he claimed was accidental contact with the girls in a whirlpool ride at Sydney Olympic Park.

But yesterday at Burwood Local Court he changed his plea to guilty to two charges of indecent assault on two 18-year-old girls and five offences of indecently assaulting a person under the age of 16 at the pool, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Police alleged Nazari grabbed all of the girls around their waist, touching their thighs, bottoms and breast, within a 25-minute period on December 8.

The youngest victim was 14.

Nazari, who does not speak English and required an interpreter during all of his court appearances, had been in Australia for only six months on a bridging visa when he assaulted the girls.

The girls reported the groping to pool security, who watched his movements on CCTV footage until the police arrived.

Police claimed Nazari had been "nonchalant" when confronted about the accusations and insisted all of the contact with the girls had been accidental.

He will be sentenced on March 3. It is expected he will be deported on the completion of his sentence.

Have you ever watched bondi rescue? The amount of groping that goes on is quite amazing.

I wonder if it's a side effect of not seeing the female form, after spending a lifetime seeing all women in tent like clothing. Like a wet paint sign or a child in a toy shop, there's an urge to touch.

It might be time for the women to stop covering themselves up and for the men to start teaching men and boys to control themselves.

The ones at bondi beach come from all backgrounds and cultures. This particular one is highlighted in the media because he was an asylum seeker.

But he wasn't at Bondi Beach was he. He was at the waterpark at homebush and observed on CCTV. Reported several times by the young women he groped.

Happens all the time. I don't know any female, friend or relative, that hasn't been groped at some stage in their lives. Doesn't mean it should be tolerated, or excused.

That's shocking. Justifies my reasons for not going to Bondi Beach. Will certainly not encourage my daughter to go either.

Never experienced anything like that in Cronulla.

There have been quite a few swimming coaches that behaved badly

Water can attract them though as they are harder to detect.

Really? look at a 40 year old and look at a 14 year old. No difference really.
