it has to be wrapped for 4 weeks. it is just that his leg is stiff and he is having trouble walking. i am sure he will adjust but he is one peed off pud. we took him to the vet straight after he hurt himself but the first vet thought he would have to have it pinned. he had it exposed for three days after breaking it with no cover at all and he was going about his business quite normally except for a slight limp but the vet insisted this would be better even though he was in better spirits before the bandaging. we had three different opinions from three different vets in the same clinic. you don't know what is best for the poor little man.

Hi sorry to hear about your little friend..Cats are very agile animals that constantly leap on things with ease but some times unfortunatley just like us they land badly and can injure themselves..How did your cat manage to hurt himself..One thing that is really inportant for his injury to heal well is to restrict his movements and confine him as much as possible..This sounds like it will stress him but it really wont..Enclosing him in a smaller room is the best thing at the moment and keep all his neccesaties with him..Litter tray..food..bedding ect..TLC is the best you can do...

I don't think kitty is in pain from the bandage. It's just inconvienent. But I bet he is one peed off pud!

Many years ago a cat of mine was run over by a car and broke her hip. The vet suggested to crate her for 6 weeks. So we made a huge crate from wood and wire and kept her inside. She got used it and fully healed.

2 years ago my fat Persian hurt his knee jumping off the dining room table. The vet said I had 2 choices. Surgery or crate for 6 weeks. This time I bought a cage/crate for large dogs. I had his food and water bowls, a bed, litter tray and his toys in there. I thought he'd hate it but he loved it! After cuddles he was more than happy to go back in. He was King Of The Castle and I swear the other cats were jealous.

when ever i have an unwell or injured animal i put them into a large crate ( the sorts they use for puppy training or dog - cat shows) plenty of room for bed and litter tray ect..Cat's and dogs both adjust quickly to them . Maybe place a sheet around top and sides to make the anmal calmer and more priverate from busynormal household activity if they are feeling unwell...just give lots of pats and attention in between and allow out for short periods like when you can give a cuddle on the couch ..ect..I even have two cats that are crate trained to sleep in at night..At around 10.pm usually when house is quietning down they just walk in their open door crete totally un aided by themselves and settle down to sleep..They remain thier until next morning around 7 am..A routine they have taken on board with no stress..Also if you feel your cat is particulary stressed thier are medications for relaxing the animal as well and nice calming things cats are fond of like cat nip cushions..ect

OP so sorry to hear that about your lil darlin....

I am so impressed by you all, you have trained you puddies so well, its amazing. In my home the training has kinda worked in reverse. My two have Hubby & I trained within an inch of our lives. We are rewarded with small luxuries like kisses and cuddles in the evening a rare nap in the position of our choosing in bed ( only if we have been extra well behaved and obedient). Sometimes and I repeat sometimes we even get to sit on the couch together sans cat!

All of that said...........I wouldnt trade the love & friendship of our two lil darlings for anything in the world.........;)

Vampire, one of mine had to have her leg bandaged for a while. She was very frustrated for the first few days but adjusted afterwards. Cats compensate well, they just don't like us to know they do. 🙂

Retailtherapist.... your comments made me lol. I am often even allowed to go to the loo unaccompanied. However, most of the time I am stared at endlessly, (which means that even though I live alone I have to shut the door when using the loo), summoned very loudly to cease and desist immediately or they will die of starvation or neglect. It doesn't seem to matter that they were fast asleep beforehand, they always sense when I need to go. I swear my kids weren't this demanding. 🙂
