I got to sleep in a bit longer because there was no Sunday walk with my neighbour this morning. She's off to cheer on her manfriend who's participating in this event:

Sydney swimmers to strip for environment

Swimmers are set to bare all for conservation and self-acceptance on Sunday.

However, their costumes will only be removed once they run from the beach into the water and no stickybeaking is allowed.

The Sydney Skinny, a nude ocean swim in its second year, is a private ticket-only event at the secluded Cobblers Beach in Mosman, on Sydney's lower north shore, from 8am.

Only participating swimmers are allowed on the beach and spectators are not allowed.

The Sydney Skinny is an untimed 300- or 900-metre swim in flat water with flippers and flotation devices allowed.

No one will be naked away from the beach and everyone gets a sarong as they come out of the water.

The Sydney Skinny was founded by the co-founder of Earth Hour Nigel Marsh.

Last year he told the Herald: "There was an 89-year-old bloke, someone flew in from overseas, there were four paraplegics, a double amputee, and there were fat people, thin people, young and old."It was just joyous," he said.

"I am floating on cloud nine. It is probably one of the nicest days of my life."

All proceeds from the swim will go to the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife, which will have representatives at the event to help raise awareness about the group's conservation and rehabilitation work.

One of the goals of the swim is to strike a blow against destructive body image issues and to practise greater self acceptance.

That's a geat idea and there is nothing nicer than swimming nekked.

I can't recall a beach around the Mosman area, but then it's been decades since I was there.

It all sounds very proper and in a good cause.

Heck I've lived here 10 years and I've never even been to Balmoral
