No matter which one you like both are stupid and need to be streamlined and efficient so that the illegal immigrants are treated with polite respect (even if they hate us and spit on us) and then a speedy outcome to suit all would be preferrable so they can get on with their lives.

They wouldn't stand a chance in America if they behaved like they do here.

The boats have been stopped for over 90 days now, so all this processing is no longer required like it was under labor. The amount of boats arriving under labor was beyond a joke.

Most of our illegals in the UK don't even get as far as the processing facility, they disappear into the ether long before that. If (and when) they are eventually uncovered, they are given bail to appear at the nearest police station within the next 48 hours, accompanied by the necessary papers and their passports. Of course they never do. They simply vanish into the ether again.

It's all the stuff of Monty Python, except not as funny.

May I ask how you propose that we acheive a "speedy outcome"?

I agree on the free speech point (although I don't agree with the points you made in the deleted post). In this instance I think the moderators applied Godwin's Law which provides that rational debate on a topic effectively ends with any reference to Hitler or the Nazis.

A 24 year-old Iranian asylum seeker, , who was urgently medivacced from Manus Island to Brisbane on Wednesday, 27 August has been declared to be ‘brain dead’.

By the time He was medivacced to Brisbane, he was suffering septicaemia, from an infection spreading from a cut foot, and went directly into intensive care in the Mater hospital. He had sought medical attention for days on Manus Island for the pain and the infection.

A couple of days ago, he suffered a heart attack and yesterday (Tuesday, 2 September), the Immigration Department and the hospital told the family that He was confirmed as ‘brain dead’. He remains on life support.

The hospital has told the family that a ‘guardian’ will be appointed at ‘some stage’ to decide on the withdrawal of life support. The family has indicated that they are willing for His organs to be donated if that is possible.

Hewas among the first of the asylum seekers transferred to Manus Island by the then Rudd Labor government in September 2013.

On Sunday or Monday, P block in Foxtrot compound, where He and 140 others had been living, was evacuated and closed.

“He is a victim of the shocking conditions and medical neglect on Manus Island. It is inexcusable that he developed septicaemia on Manus Island,” said Ian Rintoul, spokesperson for the Refugee Action Coalition.

“Once again, Scott Morrison is responsible for a death on Manus Island. There are scores of infections on Manus Island, and many complaints of the lack of medical attention. Asylum seekers on Manus Island are often forced to walk through raw sewage

"Immigration Minister Scott Morrison has ordered that no asylum seekers be sent to Manus Island, instead funnelling them to the small Pacific Island of Nauru.

In changes made to the Migration Act on July 15, Mr Morrison revoked the direction to send male asylum seekers to Papua New Guinea's offshore processing centre on Manus Island.

Unlike the 179 asylum seekers who have been now settled on Nauru, not one asylum seeker has yet been resettled in Papua New Guinea.

According to monthly figures released yesterday by Australian Customs, there are 1084 asylum seekers currently being held on Manus Island."
