Thank you Debra, and thank you to everybody else who voted for George's beautifully made little ship. 🙂

It's such a great pity that he's no longer with us as he would have been really chuffed to know that so many people appreciated his excellent workmanship. Even more amazing is the fact that he didn't start making his little models until he was well into his 70s. He is sorely missed.

Congratulations to the runners-up as well, and I especially liked the superb attention to detail in Debra's gorgeous little doll's house. I was actually quite surprised that it didn't win instead.

Incidentally, as you probably know, the majority of ships in bottles are externally preassembled in a flattened state, then lifted into shape with a piece of cotton or similar once they've been inserted into the bottle. However, in George's case, all of his models were actually assembled inside the bottle with various tiny tweezers, a bit of glue, and a great deal of patience and love, which is why I value my little ship so highly.

I have PMed this week's topic to Pimpy.. I hope it gets people's creative juices flowing. 🙂
