Labor Ruined Themselves

Will Shorten have the inner strength to do this or will it be business as usual.

Papering over the massive problems they have and tinkering around the edges, to fool the voters that they have really changed and have the wellbeing of Australians at heart, rather than worrying about themselves and their own jobs.

A self centred and odorous malaise they have been wallowing in for the last 6 years.

It's taken seven long months watching Labor carry on as if they hadn't lost the election, clinging onto failed policies and acting like spoiled children in Parliament.

It has been the blind leading the blind and don't mention the loss.

BILL Shorten says Labor must face some “hard truths”, as he gears up to campaign for party reforms that he believes will lure back voters after the party saw its primary vote tumble to a historic low of 21.8 per cent in the re-run of the West Australian Senate election.

The Opposition Leader says Labor needs to take responsibility for last year’s election defeat and make sweeping changes if it is to return to government.

Mr Shorten believes Labor’s troubles go deeper than having an image problem or trouble selling its message.

“It is more serious than this,” he says in a rallying call to Labor supporters.

“We need to change ourselves. We need to change our party.

“Today is a day for facing up to some hard truths. Some of this won’t be easy to hear — not all of it is easy for me to say. Tony Abbott did not put Labor in opposition; the Australian people put us here.

“And unless we change it is where we will stay.

polling tells us that none of that matters. the public don't like liberal policies and thats why labor consistently out poll them.

abbott only has one term. palmer is more likely to be PM than he is after the next election,

I know that's what you'd like to think LL and you have every right to do so.

The facts are that the govt. had a swing against it but the was well within the expected parameters, they are making some very hard decisions.

The real worry is the swing against Labor, they should have gained, but they lost support, the Greens stole all their votes and the PUP party did well.

The Greens are the mortal enemy of Labor, Labor has decimated it's base so badly that they have to cohabit with Greens to even be a viable party.

They need a clean sweep, a new mandate or they will never become a viable governing party, they will always need the symbiotic poisonous partnership with the Greens and look where that's got them.

This government will go down in history as our worst. Except maybe that dodgy PM who drowned lol

They haven't passed any legislation yet and they won't after the new senate... Unlike labor, the Libs are too haughty and self serving to negotiate.

The only good thing about this chaotic 1950s government is reading the responses to Abbott's tweets haha! So funny! They respond faster than his tax funded spin doctors can block 😄

I love reading responses to Malcolm, too. What a charlatan he turned out to be.

a labor green coalition has enough support if they were to form one. i'd say thats why the palmer party was formed as a hedge against such a possibility. PUP was probably concieved by abbott and palmer for the express purpose of garnering dissafected liberal voters.

it won't last .

I think the days of the two big parties running the show are just about over in Australia. We're just catching up with what's been going on overseas for decades-USA excepted. As far as the libs go its looking more like a triumvirate with PUP on the scene. Might work to their advantage but then again there could be lots of squabbling which could upset the apple cart.

If labor happen to retain the status of a parliamentary party they will remain in opposition for maybe 2 decades, so no need of a replacement 🙂
