Sick as a Dog

Term for being incredably under the weather. Often used when trying to get out of something such as work or school.

The term came to be because dogs are notoriously constantly ill.

Fred: I can't come in to work today, I'm sick as a dog.
Jane: Too bad... have a nice trip to the beach!

ha ha

(&, ive never known my dog to be constantly ill either)

I asked someone about that saying once,his answer was "because they eat their own vomit".Ugh i accepted that answer.

I know,sorry. there's probably a nicer reason for the saying that i didn't hear.My son has been collecting cats so i have no current sick dog data
