that we would pull the plug out before the water reached the top, turn the taps off, or not leave the plug in the bath when unattended?

the elimination of extra holes would make them cheaper for manufacture, installation and maintenance too.

Hard enough cleaning around the plug hole without adding more nooks and crannies!

Just thinking -if holes are drilled near the top of a bath------where does the water go?

How does the plumbing work?

Never heard about flood holes in a bath before.

-never lived anywhere with a bath for 25 years--

Has no one else flooded the bathroom numerous times, or ever? Do others have big drain hole in the middle of their bathroom floors?

yes, we have a drain hole in the bathroom, ensuite and laundry

They have bidets in the UK & Europe too. Perhaps Australians are cheapskates and want to cut out any extra plumbing.

well I haven't ever looked at the plumbing I imagine there is a small army of mice with buckets...no I don't know. hotels have them as well.

Yes we do have the bigger drain hole in the bathroom floor.

The plumber was here on day fixing the hot water cylinder in the laundry, and a little water ran out on the floor. The water flowed straight down to the external laundry door. He was impressed with that.

Kitchen sink, no drain holes, no floor drains - better not flood that.

I used to flood the bathroom regularly, we have a drain hole in the middle and the floor is designed so the water heads there (kind of), Mr Boris knew what I was like so he did it. I did it the other night, first time for at least a year - i blamed CS.

yeah, but they have maids to clean around the plug holes.
