I have a (married)couple who have cleaned my house for the last 15 years, and I have to say - until you've seen a man on his knees, with a tub of Gumption in his hand, vigorously cleaning out the bath, you have never known true love......

Note - he also uses Gumption on the kitchen sinks.

Marina.

well. hubby does the dishes, he has a brush he buys that's actually for shoes,he says. and another brush that's soft bristle, for glasses. and a green scrubby(i get them in a giant sheet and he cuts them to size) for glass pans and nonstick pans. and steel soap pads for metal pans. all have their own drying container, small clay flower pots that michael drilled holes all over.

we have a stainless steel sink,i clean that, with industrial stainless steel cleaner, and it's wiped dry immediately. always.

i hate waterspots on my stainless, lol!

I know kitchen sponges/clothes can be germ ridden but what is the health risk really? (presuming they are washed/bleached fairly regularly)

I know people whose discloth I would rather not touch with my bare hands( me itching to grab it and soak it in pure bleach), but they or members of their household rarely get sick.

My daughter has 2 sponges - one for wiping down the bench and one for using in the washing up water to wash the dishes with. I found that out when I was spotted using the wrong one in the sink.

I bet you'll be VERY happy when your kitchen is finished az !!

I was so happy with the kitchen company we used, they have their own plumber and electrician, turned up at 7 am, removed the old kitchen and took it away, did the plumbing and electric stuff and installed the new kitchen......all in the one day. Only thing that wasn't done was 2 drawer handles put on the next day as someone counted wrong lol.

Just had a new handyman here ( the first one buggared off leaving lots of people with half finished jobs !) anyway, he's going to finish the window awnings etc..he's having a house built atm and loved the corner doovey we have in the kitchen. It isn't a lazy susan type thing but metal racks on this pull out and open unit, hard to explain but glad we included it. He's been looking for something similar, so it worked out well that he saw it. I've also got one of the pull out metal rack things under the sink for cleaning stuff, very handy. I use to buy big rolls of chux for washing dishes, cleaning but I bought some bamboo/cotton thread yesterday to make some dishcloths.

Mightn't be saving the environment much by not using throw away cleaning cloths anymore but I guess every little bit helps.
