HELP ME PLEASE ... MY WASHING MACHINE IS DOING WEIRD THINGS ...

It's a Whirlpool ... over the last few days it hasn't been washing properly, leaving clothes feeling soapy and very wet. Earlier today, I put it on again on a rapid cycle, hoping the problem has been solved.

Now, I have a load of foam in the machine, some of it is coming out on to the floor - I didn't add washing powder to this load (probably a VERY GOOD THING!!!!).

It SEEMS to be adding water from the tap, and it seems to be getting rid of the dirty water through the hose thingie.

What's going on?????

What should I do????

If I call washing machine repairs at after 3:00pm on a Friday, I don't think they're going to be here today, tomorrow, or Sunday ... and my son needs his favourite shirt for tomorrow.

I could wash it by hand ... I suppose. But, I have just sewed a button on the shirt and I think that might have taken all my available "domestic goddess" skills for today 😉

Katy, call Whirlpool and they will give you phone number for local authorised repairer. I think that you will find that they are in Orlando Street.

Katy, mine is a simpson and one of the dials has a reset button on it. Try that and check the filter, there may be somehting stuck in it. It sounds like the timing device has gone.

Katy not sure where it is on the westinghouse. Google their web, look for online manual for your model, go into that and it will show you where it is. First stop though is to ring them and ask for service centre and one of the techies should talk you through it.

I agree with Jean, it sounds like the cyle timing device computer chip is broken.

Jean, I've been spending most of my time this week on my bed with an incredibly awful back ache and a whole heap of inconveniences and domestic disasters. I'm not up to dealing with a techie person who asks me all sorts of funny questions to which I don't know the answers. Nor can I deal, right now, with a manual ... I ALREADY have a headache. That's why I asked here ... it's way nicer to get advice from real people 🙂

UPDATE: I finished the wash cycle and the clothes were wet, but seemed to be washed and most of the bubbles had gone. So, I put it on a rinse and spin cycle and that seemed to work.

I AM TENTATIVELY CALLING THIS A CS MIRACLE.

I think you have a blocked pump... you will need to access the back of the machine and believe it or not is is an easy job.. get your manual out and find out where it is located.. get your son to help move the machine so you don't get a sore back..

I bet you will find something wedged in it... my sister had half a pencil blocking hers.

if you can give me the model number I can probably find the directions for you.

I think CB is close. Unit not fully discharging all the water. A partially blocked pump/pipe could cause this, or (what is model) if it has a water circulation/pump filter this could be partially blocked.

If the clothes are wet after a wash, select a spin cycle, no rinse, even 2 spins and see what the clothes saturation is afterwards.

WAF ... I didn't kick it ... but I would have felt better if I had, except for my toenails 😉

Cats ... thank you so much ... but it's back working again. I did fiddle with the spin revs control and turned up the cold water tap connection ... I have NO idea what worked.

I'm on the third load of washing now, and have taken two warm and nicely smelling loads out of the dryer.

I think the machine might be on its last legs ... I've had it a few years and it's moved from Darwin to Brisbane to Coffs Harbour ... I've never liked it much ... before I had a Thor which I adored. But, I guess I'd like to get my dollars' worth out of it before I buy a new one.

Again I say ... it's a CS miracle 🙂

I am glad its working again, my whirlpool cabrio sometimes doesn't spin properly and I have to reset it or redo the spin rinse cycle. Anyway glad your problem is hopefully solved!

BTW lucky duck being in Coffs Harbor!!! we went there for a holiday last year the kids loved the pet porpoise pool (I think it was called). Beautiful place oh and we had ice cream and coffee in the rain along the main drag there!

Katy, I'm glad you got it working again. Our Whirpool started not spinning properly, but it was a 20 year old machine & it was the beginning of the end for us. We ended up buying a new one, but another brand .The old WP certainly served us well over many years though

Katy, I just remembered, I had the same problem with a Fisher & Paykel machine. What happened was, I got the OH to pull it out so I could clean under it. When it was shoved back into it's place, it was moved too close to the wall and the hose at the back was somehow twisted, so over time it slowly got yuck caught in the hose because it was twisted. It took sometime after the move before it started to do what your machine is doing.

Check the hose for any kinks.
