if you go by each figure from the left

it's 40 + 40 = 80

80 x 0 = 80

80 + 1 = 81

but, i'd wager theres some stoopid hidden equation

when you multiply 80 by nothing it equals nothing so the answer is 1

You have to do the multiplication first. So the sum becomes.

40 + (40x0) + 1 = ?

40 x 0 = 0

40 + 0 + 1 = 41

but even without brackets, they are implied? so as she ele said the x comes first over + and -
