What Collection Do You Still Have?

The phone in topic on the breakfast show this morning was collections you had as a kid or teenager that you still have. One caller still had his complete Smurf collection in a cupboard that he didn't want his kids to know about. A Mum called in to say her 39yo son still has his Kinder surprise collection from when he was a teenager or younger. I still have my sons matchbox car collection.

I lived in the Netherlands for a short while when I was 11, I collected lapel type pins, I still have them. They used to give them away with your groceries, they were all to do with grocery brands. I still have games I had as a child.

My hubby has WAFL footy card collections and some weetbix card collections.

My son's Lego collection has now been passed on to my grandson, 2 items out of that collection would be worth $1000-00 and $480-00 respectively if we still had the original boxes, alas we don't but they are still collectors items. My son also followed baseball and he has still got all his baseball cards. Don't think he'll be getting rid of them any time soon.

When i was about 8, a group of us started collecting and swapping writing paper. Fancy ones with images on them. Ive still got my folder with all mine in.

Just cant throw them out as they were so precious to me

I still have the books my grandmother won as school prizes, some dating to 1894, as well as books belonging to my mother from the 1920s and my own books from the 1940-60s. All hardbacks and in good condition. I can not say the same about the condition of the later books...mostly paperbacks.

Our collection of Little Golden Books starts with mine from 1945 onwards and includes my childrens from the 70s and 80s and my grandchildren's from 2000 onwards. There have not been many published titles that we do not have.

My girls collected matchbox cars and most of them are still at my place...they date from the early 1970s and are in good condition although none have the original boxes.

Brings up nice memories. I wish I had kept some things that I gave away.

One was a fully working play theatre from early 1900's with wind up curtains, lights, trap door, props, scenes, actors and scriptbooks.

I starting banknote collecting when I was about 10. Still have the collection, now at around 3,500 different notes.

i'm one of those truly odd people who rereads books regularly. and the authors i loved as a child are still timeless to me,besides the fact that i tend to look at authors who write for younger people as more talented than some who write for grownups. but that's just MY POV.

After asking my sisters and I to clean up our barbies and other toys off the front porch(for several days in a row) for which we ignored her, my mother decided to teach us a lesson by throwing them all out.

Some of them would have been worth some money now too. My mom has always felt bad about it. I never really 'collected' anything as a child though. I have a few hotwheels, a couple of dolls and some stuffed animals packed away in boxes, but that's about it. I wish I had though. If only I had known what I do now.....

I collected Tuckfield Tea bird cards when I was 7 - 8 years old, mail ordered the albums to stick them in and still have them.

My Dad used to collect the Weet Bix animal cards, and still has the folder he glued them into as he collected them, this was back in the 1940's or 50's. There was one card he was never able to get, the Brindled Gnu. 40 years later I found one in a box at a collectors fair in a town hall, it cost me all of $2 and I gave it to him for his birthday, he was absolutely astounded.

I have my swap cards. My sister started my collection when I was 3.

I still collect and have about 80,000+ (don't ask me to count them)

I think in the 50's it was a Melbourne thing
