Hi Guys,

Any tips on the best way to clean a ceramic cooktop (not induction) just normal ceramic - darling daughter had an overflow while element was hot and not looking too good after a wipe down with soapy water.

Thanks all

You buy the cleaning paste at the supermarket and get a metal scraper (should have been supplied with the cooker). Apply the paste as directed, scrape gently, clean with warm water and give a wipe with a dry tea towel or a paper towel. Should look like new again in no time.

Aside from that, I use one of those green scourers.

Thank you Katy - off to the supermarket now, I was too scared to use a scourer.

It is a 'pre loved' cooktop in excellent condition so want to keep it that way.

Cheers again

i make a paste on the affected areas.

Baking soda, vinegar with a "slurp" of ammonia (if you have it on hand).

Let sit on the stain for about 15 minutes.

Use a soft cloth to rub and then wipe off.

If stain still persists, repeat the above.

Finally, rinse in your preferred way.

DEB

Important with ceramic cooktops is to clean off immediately, never reuse with something there as it will cook on and difficult to remove. I leave jif on for a while then clean.

I usually use a sponge and dishwashing detergent first, then the scaper and then if stubborn stains a little gumption on my dishcloth. I have owned ceramic cook tops over the years and find that you don't need the expensive paste they sell as long as you don't rub to hard in one spot it should be fine.
