My friend had one about 2 weeks ago. Not only did she have a tummy tuck, she also had her breasts enlarged, a neck lift, lipo, and a brow lift. I took her to the doctors office at 6 am, and I picked her up at 4 pm. She didn't stay overnight at the hospital. She has two drains on her stomach, that need to be emptied a few times per day. Her belly button was cut off with the extra skin, so they gave her a new belly button. She can't really drive on her own yet, as the pain meds make her a bit loopy. She is walking around, and doing things around the house though. She is only 46 years old, and I was a little bit shocked that she did all of that stuff. She looks really good though.

I have another friend who had the tummy tuck about 10 years ago. She had some problems in the area where the drain tubes were inserted. It took a long time for that area to heal. Other than that, she was thrilled with the results.

No, me neither; every time I started to think my tummy looks bit flabby, I started to do some tummy crunches every day. I found that it is one area that responds quite quickly to exercise.

after a radical hysterectomy and the repair from incisional hernias? i LIKE my tummy! it's reasonably flat, and the scars are still low enough for a highline tankini bottom! i'm happy i got the repairs done, but i'll NEVER take that kind of risk just for vanity.

never had a concave belly anyway, lol!

I have a friend who had it done and was in hospital for ages, first she got an infection while in the hospital, that took ages to heal, she also had problems with the draining tubes and she had to have a local, so they could be removed as they had to be cut away............she now wishes she never ever had the tummy tuck.

Her dr. has told her she may have trouble with it in yrs. to come...........how does she look??..............very unwell and not her happy go lucky self.

I would never have anything done, would rather put the money towards something else, or just keep it for when it is needed.

Sounds like she did it to help a sliding (or already slid) marriage that couldn't hold up, or maybe the hubby resented the spending and couldn't put up with taking on the extra responsibilities. He may have thought she'd never get better.

I knew an early 30's girl who a tummu tiuck to smooth out the bad stretch marks after childbirth. One child only, was eight when she decided to fix it.

She had lost a lot of weight and it was clear the damage wasn't getting better and never would. The skin was permanently dameged.

She looked fab afterwards, and the dark red tuck line along her bikini line was going to fade eventually as scars do.

She did it for a reasonable cosmetic reason not because she couldn't loose weight.

If you tuck to loose weight only, your tuck fill fill back again anyway, because you haven't changed your habits.

Heard of support knickers?....the good quality ones.

Empty the wardrobe bit by bit and replace , bit by bit with garments that you look great in.

Suggest the up market clothes from your wardrobe go on ebay or a recycled boutique and rest bag up for friends and give away. Many people love a bag of 'new' clothes to rummage and pick thru! It's like Xmas:)

Seriously, as for this diabolical surgery 'tummy tuck' each to their own but I chose several years back to wear clothing that compliments my figure and when naked Iand looking at my tummy I decided to give it an 'honouring ceremony'.......I respect my tummy and regard it as my Badge of Honour rather than something that's gone wrong. I put a lot of blood, sweat , tears and lovin' into my Tummy.

Good Luck your call and each to their own but the 'quote' might help in making a decision easier and quicker

awww Fiesta, I think you're gorgeous. I understand the photo thing though. For some reason seeing a photo of yourself is a huge reality check that the daily mirror check doesn't give you. I took a photo of OH last week and showed him. He was horrified, but all my calling him doughboy and suggesting we go on diets wasn't having any effect. The photo did.

I'm not happy being the weight I am, but I don't care enough to do much about it, other than whinge, whine, wish, sigh and eat chocolate.

If a tummy tuck is what you need to make you happy on the inside then do it. Make sure you have a good surgeoun though.
