Measureing Carpet advice

Recently got a quote for new carpet for a couple of rooms and my measurement is just under 38 square metres.

The quote has a price for approx 42 square metres, but doesn't show the quantity.

Asked them and they replied that is for 11.5 carpet metres.

Confusing, but there is 4 square metres extra to my calculation.

That's gunna be a lump sum of money.

Never go with just one quote for anything!!

Get another 2 quotes. Then compare and even pit them against each other

Other than that, I can't explain the differences

Depends where the carpet is joined and how many short pieces are left over is my guess for the difference in metreage.

If you phoned the carpet place and asked why the difference, they would give you their reasons.

Was it only an estimate? Would a carpet place need to go to the house and measure before giving a firm quote?

38 square metres = 11.5 lineal metres of carpet.

The extra would be because rolls of carpet come in 4 metre wide rolls.

Does that make sense?
