POLICE have arrested five alleged offenders involved in a terrifying racial attack on a school bus in Sydney yesterday.

Jewish children as young as five were subjected to a terrifying racial attack when thugs stormed their school bus and threatened to slit their throats.

Screaming “Kill the Jews” and “Heil Hitler” the louts jumped on the bus packed with about 30 students, from kindergarten to year 12, who were on their way home from school yesterday.

Due to their level of intoxication they could not be formally interviewed by police. Their parents were contacted and Waverley detectives plan to formally interview the group later today.

The males are aged between 15 and 17-years-old, but threeoffenders are yet to be located.

Eastern Beaches Inspector Chris Stiles said officers reviewed CCTV from the school bus which led to the arrest on a Dover Heights street.

Police said at 3.50am today, six young males were found in Dover Heights. They are believed to be those who were on the bus.

The threatened students, from Mount Sinai College, Moriah College and Emanuel School, were hysterical after the attack by eight young men as the school bus travelled through the eastern suburbs towards Bondi Junction.

The attackers, described as Australian and smelling of alcohol, boarded on Alison Rd, Randwick at 4pm.

That could be considered a terroriist attack. Possibly the boys have bitten off more than they can chew. I hope they are soiling their dacks right now, and are dealt with accordingly.

FIVE teenagers have been arrested over an alleged anti-Semitic attack on a group of Jewish schoolchildren on a bus in Sydney.

Police say the teenagers were arrested in east suburban Dover Heights at about 3.30am today.

That is terrible, and I am glad they got the bleeps. But as I said elsewhere, not totally unexpected. When the Jewish community officially supports Israel regardless what sort of crimes it is committing, there will be people who will use it to legitimise their extreme right white supremacist Jew hating ideas. And the silent majority of Jewish people, who are as horrified about what has just happened in Gaza as anybody, are the ones who will suffer.

Yes and odd that they're also from Dover Heights, known Jewish enclave. If it weren't so serious you'd think it was a schoolboys idea of a prank.

perhaps they were regulars on his bus who usually wear highly regarded private school uniforms, or perhaps he didn't notice they were drunk when they got on.

one of the papers - SMH I think, says that they were in school uniform (or partial school uniforms) and had school bus passes.

ie driver thought they were school kids

he certainly should not have let them on if they were drunk

Nothing surprises me. I lived in Vaucluse and Double Bay for years, and many of the kids there were amazingly nasty spolied brats. An every time they got into trouble, daddy would fix it.

I recall when many year ago we lived in semi rural outskirts of Sydney, with many very wealthy people around; houses so big that there was not all that much of garden on the several acres blocks. Anyway, there was a spate of car thefts; luxury cars were taken and later found burned out. The general consensus was that it was the thugs from Blacktown. In the end the kids were caught, and guess what, they were all local, and some of them were involved in burning out their own family cars.

What's a bus driver to do? Confront the louts and get himself beaten to a pulp for it? Leave the bus unattended with a load of pupils unguarded while he's laying there incapacitated?

Or drive on the the next stop where he can call for assistance? Which I believe he did.

I may not have expressed my outrage at the time re Sue WIlkins but I assure you, I was outraged.

In this case the kids probably don't really understand the seriousness of what they have done.

As for the bus driver, he is responsible for his passenger, school kids in this case. If he turfed those schoolboys off they bus and they got hit by a car or something then he would be in all sorts of doodoo as he is responsible for their safety too. I'm not condoning his inaction. There should be policies in place for situations where schoolkids are misbehaving or threatening. Perhaps pull over and call the police is the best option.

I dont know what the policy is for other states but here in SA serco drivers are not permitted to leave their seats even to defend themselves when they are being attacked, instant dismisal so the public can not expect a driver to get involved.

I’m missing two front teeth, because I moe than once chose to step up.

In life you will always be presented with problems like this. My measure of the person is how they react (or don’t).

So what would I have expected he driver to do – man up!
