Israel's West Bank Land Grab 'Counterproductive'

The United States sees Israel's announcement on Sunday of a land appropriation for possible settlement construction in the West Bank as "counterproductive" to peace efforts and urges the Israeli government to reverse the decision, a State Department official said.

Israel’s Civil Administration in the West Bank announced the takeover of 988 acres (3,799 dunams) belonging to five Palestinian villages between the Etzion settlement bloc and Jerusalem. The move clears the way for construction of a new settlement named Gvaot.

The announcement follows the cabinet’s decision last week to take over the land in response to the June kidnapping and killing of three teenage Jewish boys by Hamas militants in the area.

Yes, that is what they always do the moment the Palestinians look fulfil the myriad of conditions for negotiation Israel either comes up with new conditions, or make an announcement for a new settlement displacing more Palestinians form their land, making formation of Palestinian state less and less possible.

In 1948 when the State of Israel was formed the next day a combined invasion by Egypt, Jordan and Syria, together with expeditionary forces from Iraq, entered Palestine and ATTACKED Israel. Israel WON the war.

In 1967 Israel had to fight again. and they WON again.

Israel has WON every single war, they have NEVER lost.

Israel has NO CLAIM to the 'Holy Land' - it was taken away. It was man who gave it back to them in 1947. It was the US/UK that armed them to win those wars. That land belongs to those that lived there prior to 1947. - end of story.

In 1948 the U.N. formed the State of Israel by majority vote. This was legally binding. The Holy Land always belonged to the Israelites anyhow the UN vote just made it official.

Israel has been attacked numerous times since and WON every war. This means the WHOLE Holy Land is theirs. I don't know what people find hard to understand about this. It is simple.

Nobody's disputing the land that was granted to the Jews by the UN after WW2 to form the state of Israel. It's about the land that has been occupied and illegally settled after Six-Day war and the acquirement by stealth of Palestinian property ever since.

What you fail to understand is that UN did not give Israel the Gaza, West Bank or East Jerusalem. East Jerusalem was going to be the capital of the Palestinian state. Every land grab is against UN resolution. And the world is getting fedup with Israel ignoring UN rules, yet expects everybody else respect any ruling that is to their advantage.

In 1948 there was a UN ruling. The Palestinians and their allied Arab countries ATTACKED Israel. The purpose of the attack was so they could try to beat Israel and take over but they LOST the war and every war ever since. The UN ruling was not respected by the Palestinians. If you lose a war you don't get to keep the land, you actually lose more land. In 1948 if Israel was not attacked none of this would have happened. They brought it onto themselves they should have left Israel alone in 1948. They are now crying wolf.
