Hi bushies, we have letters from AGL & our gas provided saying we'll get a 7 1/2 percent discount. But how do you really know when they're always offering you discounts like that? I don't think it will amount to very much for us.

Some people here have said their councils are offering small refunds ($35.00 or so) our council has not offered anything.

& nothing else has come down in price that I'm aware of, I actually think food has gone up a bit

I am with AGL as well for electricty. The letter they sent this week said 7.8% reduction in energy rates, back dated to 1 July 2014. That will mean a saving of around $23 of my last 3 monthly account which they will refund in 3 months time. whoop-de-doo.

No gas here, no savings there.

No natural gas here , I have bottled gas for my cook top ( no rebate ) and solid fuel heating ( approx $500 for wood ) and of course, no rebate for that either. So based on those figures I save a massive $35 a quarter, well golly gee Mr Abbott you really need to re do your sums.

No council rebate here either and yes food has increased dramatically in the past 12 months in my opinion

there are big problems with electricity here, apparently tax payers funded the repair of power lines now the providers say they have to pay tax on the money they were given & want to pass that cost onto the taxpayers again

a real mess!!

My electricity bill is approx $450 per quarter eg $1800 pa and I will save approx $145 pa. Would hate to think what it would need to be to get the ( supposed ) $550 rebate.

Sure is Debra, I only have it for the cook top, I have been using the same bottle for nearly 8 months so that's not too bad. Trying to use it for heating is impossible due to the cost.

When we lived in the country, we only used it for our cook top too, we had a wood heater and an electric hot water service.

But some I knew used LPG for heating & were having to get their bottles replaced weekly. Imagine what that would cost.

You're doing well, one bottle lasting 8 months

I received a letter stating the percentage of the credit (no amount indicated).....

However they recently increased the prices so, I won't hold my breath...... I think that will cancel the other out.

I spend about $4000 a year on electricity and I'm pretty sure they said mine will drop about 7%

I used to have LPG heating, it could easily cost me $150 a week in winter. Changed to reverse cycle air cons now and its definitely cheaper.

It cost us approx $500 for wood this winter so I guess that also must be added to the heating cost. If we had to use bottle gas/electric heating the cost would be much the same and solid fuel heating does a better job in my opinion. Next season we will go and cut our own wood to save money. Siggie,I try to keep the cost down as much as I can not always easy but I try.

Good to know that's cheaper Punch. We have a rental property in the country & we're replacing the heater next week ( at a cost of about $3000)but it's natural gas. I probably should've gotten a quote on ducted heating. The old air con will probably need replacing this summer too.
