Use a different direction to clean the inside, than you use for the outside.

I use Glass plus, and newspaper. I wipe the windows up and down(vertically) outside, and across from side to side(horizontally) inside. That way you know if your streaks are coming from inside or outside.

OK it's a job I loathe but it has to be done .... I have a massive window in my sunroom what's the best way to clean it, that doesn't take long or leaves smears/smudges?

I've heard that warm water with a bit of dishwasher rinse aid works well. The rinse aid dries it off quickly and streak free like it does to the glasses in your dishwasher.

Have to admit to not having tried it myself, I have colonial windows which take forever to clean and I usually just stick to windex. Actually metho works well too.

I have several really large windows. I use the windex outdoor product. You attach it to the hose, and spray and rinse. The main thing though is to clean the dust off the surface first. I use a soft broom. I have no choice as I am not able to climb a step ladder now.

Newspaper and water works well but is messy.

Don't go to Enjo for a good squeegie. Go to a car parts and accessories place like Autopro. Much cheaper, although I do have the Enjo one which is great for doing the outside of the windows.

Mostly I just use Windex and a paper towel for the inside.

When I didn't have any I used the windscreen cleaner fluid and I added that to a bucket of water and that worked great too.

Amazing results and easy as, never consider using anything else again.

If you have an agent in the area, call and ask for a demo, she will clean it for you 🙂

It depends in what vicinity you live that determines a method.

Near a busy main road (where there is usually diesel fumes, dirty grime, etc) I used a dustpan broom to detergent wash, then rinse, then the old newspaper/metho way. (But I think a different ink/paper is used nowadays and doesn't seem as good)

People in a seaside location probably have a method too.

In the normal neighbourhood situation, I use plain water to rinse off any grime. Then a Vileda window cloth (or real chamois) in clean warm water to wipe over for a streak free finish. The more often they are done (bi monthly) the easier each time.

I do the interior kitchen window more often. (And if it has steamed up or splashed by washing up, I wipe it over with the chamois immediately.)

I find that some of the so called cleaners seem to attract dirt or leave a greasy film, that is why I use just plain water.

Oh and don't do it when the sun is shining on the glass.

DEB
