Not me, but I do know of two people that have.

The first girl met her husband through that site, they dated for a yr, then got married and now have 2 children and are blissfully happy.

The other is my eldest stepdaughter, she is 28yrs. she met this guy who worked in the mines in WA, they sort of had a relationship, he would work in the mine for two weeks then come home for one week..........she got pregnant and now has a little boy, because the guy was so use to just working with guys, their relationship is now floundering, as he doesnt want to be a father and all the things he told her about himself turns out to be a pack of lies.

Depends on the persons concerned and how gullible they are..........I if it was me, would be very wary, as anybody can write anything when sitting behind a computer.

Not RSVP, but I helped a friend sign up for eharmony and was impressed by the types and amount of questions they asked compared to another one that he tried (cant remember what the other one was) it did really seem like they'd be able to find people that you'd have something in common with.

Having said that, he never ended up paying the subscription so it hasnt been activated and therefore no dates to report on.

Dear nicnacs, you have met my darling husband. We have met on RSVP.

A friend and I were browsing the site for a laugh when his profile came up and my friend egged me on to send him a kiss.

Long story, but almost two years on we got married. Will celebrate eight happy years together on the 9th December.

Dear nicnacs,

Slowly, but surely is the way to go.

After my previous husband died, I swore I'll never get married again. First I went through depression, anger and feeling useless. Nobody needed me anymore. Came close to ending it all.

Then with the patience, guidance and understanding from a Internet friend in the USA, I learned to enjoy my freedom, travelling and doing what I want when I want. After a few years it became boring and I started to miss close company. Someone to watch a movie with and talk about all sorts of things. At times I did feel lonely, but I kept busy with crafts and some groups I joined, until my late friend saw RSVP on my computer and asked what it was. She wanted to know how matchmaking on a computer works, so I opened the site to show her how people post their profile and what they are looking for. When Peters profile popped up, she made mego back to it and read what he posted.

Egging me on to contact him, I finally relented. Never thought I hear from him, as I told him that I am not really looking for a relationship, but a penfriend would be nice. That night I checked my mail and was astounded to have a reply from Peter. Final result is history.

Yes, nicnacs, we did take it slowly, getting to know each other and finding we had such a lot in common. Gradually we spent more and more time together, so when Peter proposed, I had no hesitations to accept. That happened on my 69th birthday at the Cukoo Restaurant in front of about 150 people.

Hopefully a few more happy years together. Erica

I think women have to ask themselves WHY they want to find a man at all? So many women say they are not desperate for sex, so that rules that out. Being bored/lonely - well women of a certain age usually have children, grandchildren and clubs they can involve themselves in. For socio-economic reasons - yes, that's it. The number one priority for a woman is a man's social and economic standing: how many women agree to date an unemployed man? Perhaps if women went back to school and/or found a job, worked harder in life, they could attain a financial and social footing without a man's help: Ya think?

maybe for you dirtygirl, surely you must understand some woman simply want a soul mate, don't care if they're successful in business or not?

if not, sometimes working as a team they both have purpose to become financially successful.

You can have children, you can have grandchildren, you can belong to so many clubs as well but at the end of the day you can still be lonely, I see it all the time. It is not about finances in most cases it about companionship, having someone to do things with.

I think Erica explained very clearly how and why she, personally, "found a man." And socio-economics didn't come into it at all. As for not dating an unemployed man, any woman who had raised her family and was enjoying social and economic independance would be very chary about taking on another dependant - that doesn't mean she wouldn't like a soul mate.

I don't believe I ever said that's what Erica was looking for - in fact, I didnt mention Erica at all. She is an isolated case but if most women are honest with themselves - they want a man with money and a good job and if it's a choice between their soul-mate who happens to be unemployed or on permanent disability for a work injury and a CEO with a beautiful house in Mosman, they will kiss their soul-mate good-bye, believe me 🙂
