Knife Sharpening

I have a ceramic knife sharpener that looks like this one

(bit big, sorry)

and another that I just bought -

I also have a whetstone, but can't be bothered with that one.

My question is..............can I sharpen scissors on either of those?

They come apart, so no problem there

Or, do they need to be professionally sharpened?

Don't use the ceramic one, but the arco steel one should be fine.

No, that one would take the edge off both sides and the inner edge needs to stay flat.

All the videos want me to use a whetstone!!!!

So..........I'm gunna try this little trick............it works for crafting dies/cutters I believe.

Home improvement site DIY Life has compiled a list of fifteen uses for aluminum foil; among them is the ability to sharpen scissors. All you need to do is stack about seven pieces of foil together and slice through them with your dull scissors, and voila! Scissors are sharp again. I tried this myself and it took more than one cut-through, but it actually did work. After your sharpening work is done, you can recycle the foil for other tasks around your kitchen.

ERMA GERD!!. It works!!!! No goosey bumps, silly freddie

It was just cutting foil. I may have to do it more often to keep 'em sharp,

but it's as easy as

I have now cut copious amounts of foil and sharpened every pair of

scissors in the house.

Did you see one where the fella used black permanent marker on the edge to make sure he didn't miss bits?

If you used that method the ceramic sharpener in top pic of OP would work.

I have a pair with a blunt spot, caused by my trying to cut through a pin, I should try to sharpen. No doubt the knife sharpening man will turn up again a week later. 😄

Do you have one of the King of Knives shops near you? They do knife/scissor sharpening in specific weeks.

Nope, am, no King of Knives anywhere near me.

But the foil cutting trick worked a treat.

That should keep me happy for a while.

Hi Stawka-not sure if this is off topic-but i used to attend reps meetings in the HQ

in the city-all the reps would appear.

Someone said--you can hear the knives sharpening in the inner office,

You could of tried to sell the foil strips to the R.A.A.F as fighter aircraft eject loads of them to evade missiles

I sharpen my scissors by cutting through steel-wool or sandpaper. Works well.
