funny posts

interesting to see who is behind the anti halal hysteria trying to destroy Aussie businesses, so one of them is a former One Nation person, remember One Nation - the mob that were screaming about Asians taking over Australia not that long ago. They too have jumped on the anti halal - anti Muslim un Australian campaign. Now this goose is in restore Australia who were involved in the campaign against construction of a Mosque in Bendigo - $10,000 they donated....mmmmm, what a sad bunch of haters.

A campaign of misinformation

But James Mathews, spokesperson for the Australian Food & Grocery Council, tellsSmartCompany halal certification is undertaken by accredited religious organisations, all audited by the Federal Police.

“This campaign is one of misinformation,” says Mathews, who likens the certification process to gaining ‘organic’ status for a product.

El-Mouelhy says Halal Certification Australia is Federal Police checked and audited at the “will of the government”.

Khan argues the agenda behind the social media campaigns is to create a phobia against Muslim people.

“It has nothing to do with halal, it’s an excuse for phobia against the Muslim population,” he says.

He says it is the responsibility of the federal government to stop the campaigns, and if they do not, the Australian economy will suffer.

“It can have repercussions in the importing countries that Australia at large is anti-Muslim.”

“Businesses should not be bowing to this kind of pressure – it is only a handful of people. Most Australians are sensible and can make their own choice.”

But Holt claims those businesses that “stand up” to halal certification will see an increase in domestic business.

“When they stop certifying halal, their business will expand,” he says. “What I would say [to a company with halal certification] is first of all, you are pandering to 2.2% of the population. You need to work out, what sort of business do you want?”

Holt says small, local companies such as The Fleurieu Milk and Yoghurt Company have already had offers of business from interstate customers who support their decision to axe certification.

But Fleurieu sales and marketing manager Nick Hutchinson yesterday toldSmartCompany the company’s move to let go of its certification was not because it supported the anti-halal movement.

“There’s people who think we’re making a stand against halal, and we are not, that’s not why we’ve done it,” says Hutchinson.

http://www.smartcompany.com.au/technology/social-media/44555-halal-hate-campaign-businesses-targeted-by-organised-social-media-attack-as-anti-islam-lobby-group-claims-success.html

But Scholle Industries Pty Ltd, based in Elizabeth, is a manufacturer of plastic packaging (plastic is derived from oil) and has apparently been able to assure Muslim fraudsters that all oil wells are facing Mecca."

"How are the funds from halal certification used?

The service fees paid to Halal Australia for halal certification and accreditation are used to maintain the normal costs of running a registered business in Australia. These include overhead costs such as utilities, rent, inventory and supplies, and employee salaries, as well as income taxes paid to the Australian government. Inspection fees also include auditing services, which are undertaken to maintain quality control of the premises and products and which cover standard expenses such as service, transportation and travel time.

Halal Australia is proud to be an Australian business and in accordance with the Australian Government’s values statement has always undertaken to respect the values of Australian society and obey its laws.
Halal certification profits DO NOT go towards supporting any terrorist activities or violent politically motivated religious organisations.

Nor do we have anything to do with any organisation or group anywhere in the world that incites violence and are not aligned with our values of freedom, egalitarianism, equality of opportunity, and mutual respect and tolerance."

http://www.halal-australia.com.au/clarifying-misconceptions-about-halal/

How do Muslim consumers know for certain some plastic packaging doesn't contain animal fat unless it is halal certified?

Any manufacturer or food producer can claim they don't use animal products or in the case of organic certification they don't use chemicals but unless those products are certified there is no way consumers can be sure the products don't contain ingredients they don't want to purchase.

Organic certified veges are grown without the use of chemicals. Unnecessary certification because there are no chemicals involved?

So what did muslims eat and pakage their food in before we had certification? Will they all go to hell because certification was only invented a few decades ago?

I can see the need for certification of animal products and their deriviatives, but we have ingredient labelling on pretty much everything nowadays, certification is simply an unecessay cost on things that are halal by default.

Could you give a date/year that halal certification was first used in Australia?

We have an organic certified farmer at our local markets. They have a copy of their certification visible, their vege prices are quite a bit higher than non organic veges.

Other vege sellers can claim they grow their veges organically.. they can't prove they do unless they are certified.

Why isn't a business allowed to make their own commercial decisions whether they want to enter into such a contract or not?

They can and they did. But it seems some of their existing customers preferred to by non halal certified products and they figured perhaps they'd lose more than they gained. So they made another business decision to drop the certification.

$50,000 is not a massive contract, they could easily lose more than that by losing a couple of hundred existing customers.

The certification doesnt particularly worry me, I certainly wouldnt go out of my way to look for labels and boycott companies, but I can understand why people are cheesed off when its hitting them in the hip pocket.
