Tony Abbott is a liability. A bullet proof car might not be much use if a nuclear capable warship comes looking for him.

Hi Joe--yep dont think it is USSR built--but they had some classic cars.

Remember the Lada Niva---before its time-----had a heated rear window

Back in February, we told you that Marussia Motors and Russian website Cardesign were hosting a design contest for a new presidential limo for Vladimir Putin. With more than 100 suggestions submitted, the contest has now come to an end, the vehicle envisioned by Yaroslav Yakovlev and Bernd Weel being declared the winner.

The new limousine design was created by the two over the course of three weeks, and the end result is quite impressive. The vehicle sports a long hood and an imposing front end with huge Rolls-Royce-inspired fascia. Round the back, the design is more original, with unique taillamps and a center-mounted dual-exhaust system.

No word on whether this ZiL concept will be put into production, but if it gets green-lighted it has a great chance to become the most exquisite presidential limo to roam the streets. Now let's wait and see if it gets Vladimir Putin's approval.

A few months ago, Marussia Motors and Cardesign.ru hosted a contest which asked artists to create a new presidential limo for Vladimir Putin.

The response was overwhelming as more than 120 proposals were submitted in just a matter of weeks. Now, after a couple rounds of voting, Yaroslav Yakovlev and Bernd Weel have been declared the winners.

Over the course of three weeks, the duo worked together to create an imposing new limousine which expresses "power and authority." The end result is pretty impressive as it has a stately appearance with a long hood and an upright front fascia. The stodgy styling gives way to a dynamic rear end which has a center-mounted dual-exhaust system and a distinctive rear bumper.

There's no word on whether or not Putin has seen the model but it definitely looks a lot better than the previous Zil concept.

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Russian President Vladimir Putin have cleared the air ahead of the G20, meeting at the APEC summit in China to discuss the MH17 disaster. Mr Abbott demanded a public apology and compensation for the victims from Mr Putin.

And what did Russia have to say about that Tony?

At an APEC event to watch the fireworks in Beijing on Monday night, Russian President Vladimir Putin created a few of his own by slipping a shawl over the shoulders of Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

A smiling Peng kindly accepted the offer, but seconds later deftly slipped the shawl off into the hands of a waiting aide.

The small act of chivalry, quickly but politely rebuffed, unfolded live on state television, with voiceover from a CCTV anchor stating simply: "President Putin has placed a coat on Peng Liyuan."

A hashtag based on the same words quickly gained momentum on social media where the video was posted and reposted, according to Foreign Policy. However, by morning, there was little trace of it left.

Searches for the video and hashtag on China's twitter-like Weibo and messaging service WeChat turned up a smattering of comments and broken links, leaving users to surmise that China's Internet police had deemed the material too potentially damaging to share.
