Adult Kids Returning Home

Over the years I have my kids returning home for a few week or months. It doesn't happen now as the are all grandparents.

This morning I have had one of my adult grandsons asking if he could stay with me for a few weeks until he finds somewhere else to live.

Charge him $200 per week and he won't come back. He will spread the word and bingo problem solved

I intend charging him board and I am writing a list of house rules.

I am also thinking of jobs he can do around the house.

Oh..I got all excited for a minute !

Thought DDU must have finally finished her Ettiquette course at the Swiss Finishing School for Norti Posters and was coming home.

I miss her.....say hello.

Our adult kids have never moved back since we sold the house and moved to another town LOL

Mine have all returned home at some stage in their adult lives, some with spouses, some with spouses and children..............usually while waiting for a house to be built or between houses, I miss them sometimes, lol. Problem is, they usually arrive with "stuff" and take up my space.

Mine have over the years returned home when the outside world got a bit hot. lol.

Daughter returned home after uni to work locally. (I don't count that one because I expected it) She married and moved out after 12 months.

Oldest son returned home after five years out of the nest due to a relationship break up. Stayed with us for seven or eight months (broke his ankle while here) and then found employment and a flat when he was fit.

Youngest son has been out and home so many times I have lost count. 🙂 Once due to a work injury and loss of job as a result. When fit he worked for 12 months before resuming an apprenticeship and moving out. He and partner have asked to move back in next year to save for a home deposit. What can you do? Family is family.

Times are different now. I left school at 17 and found work straight away. Moved out of home and never went back. Work was easier to find, we did it ourselves not relying on paid middlemen like today. Most of us married young and just got on with things.

I don't know about easier, I don't think our expectations were as high and didn't expect to be supported for life so just did what was needed to suvive.

We have a 21 year old grandson living with us at the moment - he moved here from interstate. We are rather enjoying his company.

I Left home to work in London at age 19 and left London to come to Australia at age 21 - so going back home wasn't really an option.

I don't know about easier, I don't think our expectations were as high and didn't expect to be supported for life so just did what was needed to suvive.

Our expectations were lower for sure. Life was so much less complicated then though. Jobs were advertised in the paper not job centres, we applied, and sometimes we were even successful. 🙂 I really hate the way things are done now, with a barrier between employer and employee.

I would have loved to see a stoush between her and a few on here. It would have been extremely entertaining. Seems the loud ones have disappeared of late.

That sounds familiar. 🙂 except mine then seem to leave the stuff behind, and then when next time they arrive with van full are complaining that there is no space in my garage. LOL

I've always had adult kids living on and off at my house. When I was with Mr Ex we had my daughter then my daughter and her boyfriend from the UK, my son, his son and his nephew all staying with us at one time or another.

Since the ex and I broke up I've had my daughter and future son-in-law stay for a few months when they got back from traveling then my son moved in twice! Now he's living with a lovely girl I would be honored to call my daughter-in-law.

Now it's just me and cats. *sigh*

In the past, it was the expected thing to do.

Now we pay others to care for our young children and pay others to care for our parents.:smileyfrustrated whilst running around frantically trying to earn enough to pay fees, and ready made dinners.
