ABC SBS to be sold ?

The agenda for this months meeting of the Liberal party in melbourne includes the discussion topic of selling off the ABC and SBS. Why is this fervour for selling off public broadcasters suddenly on the agenda ?

do they fear the minutest amount of honest broadcasting, and do they think it a better media environment for them will exist if nobody out there is in any position to criticise ? its not as if the ABC are backing the other side of politics .. if anything the ABC has a distinct conservative tone to its news and current affairs programs these days.

So much for all the breast-beating around 'freedom of the press'

selling the public broadcasters is suppressing such freedoms surely ?

As these pollies are really only caretakers of our public asset's I don't understand how they can sell them off for a quick $

Aust post makes money.. why would you sell an asset that contributes to general revenue ?

That didn't stop them in the past, they have sold the gold, Telstra, Comm Bank, Qantas and airports already.

Yes I know they have, I don't believe they have the right to sell the countries asset's and pay themselves well for plundering our assets

The license to broadcast is worth something. But there are no returns for what's pumped into it.
