Target being veerry SNEAKY!

Went to Target today because they are offering 2nd item in ladies linen clothing at half price. Lined up and paid for 2 x $40 shirts and 2 x $20 t - shirts. Was expecting the total discount to be $30 ......checked receipt to find the discount was only $20.... Because they paired the cheapest with the dearest. Went and had a coffee to think this through. Returned the 4 items and then purchased them as 2 seperate transactions - discount now equalled the expected $30.... Wonder how many people have been stung?

Well, a lot would accept the sale.

Many do not even think.

Coffee was an awfully good idea.

Most probably couldnt work out what the discount was so wouldnt know.

I worked that out before I got stung!

Purchased 2 pairs of swimmers for children, scanned at $18 each and got both for $27. Went back and got 2 pairs that scanned for $7 but were marked at $22, I got both for $10.50.

Went again yesterday and did similar, 2 pairs that were $20 each, $30.

It does tell you on the offers. So not so much sneaky as just read all the fine print. It is standard that the half price discount will come off the cheaper item, not just at Target. I do multiple transactions to make the best of it, too 🙂

Target isn't being sneaky. Those offers always work like that.
The customer needs to be sneaky to get the biggest discount.

Buy 1 get second at 50% off = 25% of each item
Not thatgreat really.

The best sneaky I have seen was 33c each or 3 for $1

I asked them how many people fell for it and bought three when they normally would have only bought one. Plenty apparently.

Even as a callow youth, I knew the value of a penny...........I used to buy model paints (@15 cents each) at a nearby drugstore. No tax on one, but buy 2, and the cost hits the first level of sales tax. So I would buy one, then come back 30 seconds later with another, and yet another.............until the store owner said, "Just buy however many you need, no tax."

you have to be on your toes shopping these days. Look at all the bait n switch going on, and the fancy tricks Walmart comes up with to keep you in their store longer shopping. On black friday they would hand out the item in limited number 3 hours before the sale starts but you had to wait before checking it out and paying for it. They figure you'll be shopping and buying things in that time rather than just waiting in line for the item.

I used to go to thrift stores for clothing and made out pretty good on their 50% off days they had the first tuesday of the month. There were a dozon or so thrift stores where I used to live, but here there is only one, their selection is bad and their prices are high. Almost worth it to drive the hundred miles to get better deals. Assuming I can sneak by the police there, get in and out, and the highway patrol in the road back here don't see me. They love to say i'm not fit to drive and take my car, like they did my bicycle.
