Why put security tag things through both sleeves of dresses that make it almost impossible to try the dress on and can also damage the product - fgs there is also a security tag on the side anyway - if shoplifting is a problem EMPLOY MORE STAFF - that is the most effective way to limit theft.

I carry a little blade which I use to cut the plastic which joins some shoes together (in the cheap shops) so I can try both shoes/slippers on.

It's so dumb, one of the dresses had been ruined by it, it was silk and the constant weight of the security thing had done damage and it was the last one. They also put them in places the ruin the fit and fall of some things.

Staff can't be everywhere and it takes less than 2 seconds to get a lightwieght dress stuffed into a bag

and the pros are really good at it, waiting for that two second window where the staff are not looking.

Re the damage, that is a staff issue with them either not knowing where to put them or realising.

Big W make-up section now has tags so you can't remove the item from the steel bar thingo which holds the item on the bar. No staff in the make up section to remove the tag. I wanted a brow pencil for the princess so I had to rush off to priceline.

I remember when my daughter was a pre-teen.........we were shopping for school clothes at Wallyworld, and I watched as a mother with two teen daughters was buying underwear for them. One kid would hold up a thong, and while mom was saying. "Cold day in hell".......the other was slipping a couple into the shopping cart..... Mom finally abandoned the cart and left with the two in tow......hah, try saying that 3 times quickly.

Yes, I bought my hubby a polo shirt that he never ended up wearing, it had permanently puckered and looked like a nipple he reckoned.

Yeh, the whole tagging stuff is getting crazy.

The tags do wreck the clothes by leaving holes or pulling them out of shape

having worked in retail, including store security it is management that decides where the security tags go. Number one thing for theft prevention is staff, meaning jobs.

The other thing that really annoys me is brown/orange makeup left on clothes - please either wear less while shopping or don't rub your face all over everything.

So Management is not trained to know where to place the tag?

Or is it the staff not performing the correct procedure as requested by Management?

I wonder why the security tags aren't attached to the actual garment tags. Or a separate tab altogether for the security tag during production of a garment, so that the laundry instructions aren't covered

Make up stains on new clothing for sale is gross.

Target have a soft security tag now for clothes, sewn into the garment looks like an elongated care label. Once bought, the tag needs cutting off before wearing.

I didn't realise that and had store security beepers going off, when I wore 3/4 pants purchased from there.

Most stores didn't even care I was walking out of their store and setting the alarm off. I stopped and looked around waiting for someone from security to come over and check me out.

I found out later what was causing this, the Target security tag. The staff do tell people now at the counter to cut off the tag before wearing.

I went with my daughter to Chemist Warehouse, she had a newly bought Target clothing item in her bag,the security beeper went off on exit and the security person asked to see in her bag. It was the Target item. The security person said they had a lot of problems with paid for Target tag setting of the alarms.

Pity Target can't deactivate the security tag, once the item is paid for.

yes, it is annoying, I've bought things that when they've taken the round plastic security tag off, they've damaged the clothing, with a small hole in the fabric or a round imprint and even faded fabric where the security tag was, and of course you don't notice it until you get back home

I had a similar occurence going through exits when I hadn't bought anything, from various types of stores.

The security lady at WW suggested that an in-built security thingo in my money purse may be to blame. It underwent some sort of a scan on her machine.

Voila no more beeping.

Edited: So someone already has come up with my clever idea of a material tag

So, this guy comes into a drugstore to buy "protection". He gazes at the packages for a while, then asks the sales clerk how he determines the correct size. She tells him he has to measure, so tugs down his pants and seizes his manhood.
