Bill Shorten - but in the meantime I'll settle for Malcolm Turnbull.

I'd like to see Mr Abbott prevail, but I think it will be Mr Turnbull.

He is very urbane, if nothing else, and if he does the get top job I hope he makes a great PM so Bill Shorten will be old and grey before Labor get another tilt at it.

Rightly or wrongly, it does seem from recent events that public opinion is leaning towards the left at the moment, and if public opinion needs appeasing thenTurnbull, as PM, might be a sensible compromise.

Yes, but the Nats have threatened to walk if he is the winner and those who've called for spill are MT haters.

As Chris Uhlmann said, if nothing changes, Abbott's poll approval will go down week by week, and there will have to be a change within months.

I would prefer to see stability in government and no change. However, I would also have preferred to see a government that didn't broadside the electorate with crazy "captains picks".
I suspect they will keep him, if for no more reason than they don't want to be seen as echoing the leadership crisis' of the last government. I don't believe we will be well served by that though.

Most of the Labor party were Rudd haters but they put him back in over a better pm because they thought he had a higher chance of retaining power.

I think the Libs will do the same with Turnbull. Except of course he would make a better pm than Abbott but he has also let us down since the last election.
