I like Derryn Hinch.

He speaks his mind, sticks up for the underdog and is not afraid to be punished for telling the truth.

He may have done some stupid things in his life, mostly to his own downfall, but who on earth is without blame and can throw the first stone?

One could ask, why would we all want yours? Most come here to have a chat about current events, in their lives or in the media, Happens less and less these days. Most don't come to have someone's political agenda rammed down their throats in a violent fashion. But it happens time and time again.

I am not a particular fan but I guess he is no more of an idiot than others of his profession like John Laws for example.

Hinch guns for certain people because of his childhood experiences. Those experiences have made him attuned to the mistreatment of others, and he uses his position to champion those causes. He sometimes goes too far, but so what?

He doesn't behave as a macho don't care man, so he is villified.

US government had much more to do with Osama than Hicks. Terrorist is somebody who perpetrates terrorist act. Terrorist act is usually act of violence done for political reason. Taliban, as unpleasant their attitude is too us, are just a part of Afghanistan society involved NOW in civil war against government supported militarily by the west. That was not the way it was when Hicks went there. We were not involved in Afghanistan then.

Misguided young people always looked at religious alternatives; In the past when kids got sucked into some religious cult we used feel sorry for them and tried to extricate them. Now, when somebody gets involved in Islam we turn on them like pack of rabid dogs. Very sad.
