Pmg, telecom, telstra what ever you choose too call them!, wake up people !you the tax payer has paid to make this business and then the government decided to sell something the tax payer already owned back to the mum and dad investors!, then guess what ?, apparently we need the NBN and you guessed it !, the tax payer pays for something they already own AGAIN! Watch this space !it may not happen overnight but it will happen you will pay again! HELLO STUPID

Telophonist were a special elite breed they could see far and wide with their all encompassing sight , experience and knowledge, sadly that have all died out now 😞

My mum was a telephonist. In the days of operators directing all calls to where they needed to go. We used to larf cos she told us how she used to have to interrupt the calls with "three minutes, are you extending?" Every three minutes. Imagine these days if we had an operator interrupting our calls every three minutes...lol

I agree with the OP. Telstra sucks, the bigger they became the more sucky they became. I stopped using this company a few years ago, will never go back, would rather go without internet and phones if I had to use them as a provider.

I am 40 !, I didn't work for them when it was PMG but did when it was telecom, it was quite a good company to work for then.after 20 years and seeing first hand the appalling management of a tax payer owned company and introduction of a workforce that doesn't understand English it seemed like a good time to be on my merry way! We now have another tax payer funded half assed solution we call NBN which still relies on antiquated under maintained copper cable rather than fibre to the home! Welcome to the new information super highway

In one company I worked for I'd fill in at reception and they had the old fashioned plug and cord switchboard. I loved working it. It made me feel like I was in an old black and white movie.

Just remembered the uniformed girls who went from office to office cleaning peoples handsets of "Brylcream, VO5, and other nasties."

OMG Memories! I worked as a telephonist at Foyles Bookshop in London in 1961 There were two of us and we were flat out all the time.
