Nothing much for them, as other law and order campaigns have done nothing in the past for addicts, but is that what the aim really is?

I wonder if they are more dangerous when suffering from withdrawals than on the drug.

The announcement is a bit too coincidental IMO.

Hint.........law and order is trotted out before every state election, so my view is that there are other motives here.

Listen to this interview to put it into perspective. The government has been made aware of problems for years, and funding has been cut.

He says that "command and control" method will fail. All methods like this have failed for the last 50 years.

Time to try another method, and pigs will fly first.

The use of elicit drugs is against the law. Those who have addicted themselves to their use should be deprived of them and charged as having broken the law.

there is too much namby pamby in the treatment of those who are suffering from SELF INFLICTED addiction.

What would you suggest D?

My understanding is that it is to prevent/minimize overdose. Mine was a general question regarding what the Task Force will do for those addicted.

I find this type of drug use quite frightening, interestingly amphetamines were used extensively and legally in the past particularly in WW11

I just worry how the addicted people will cope and how that will affect the rest of us.

D, there are already laws in place to prevent dangerous behavior and laws in place to prohibit the use of elicit drugs.

If a person breaks the law they should be dealt with according to the law.

This comment is interesting

I have multiple sclerosis, and using ice increases my mobility enormously, it also decreases MS pain to practically nil. Yes, the come downs are bad, and I know that using ice (injecting) will dramatically shorten my life span but I would much rather live for a shorter time without 24\7 intense pain, and with almost 100% mobility, than to suffer a long drawn out painful life\death, who wouldn't?

My cynical view is that it is to blame the victim so that the navy will emerge with very clean hands, and to boost the poll figures for you-know-who.

All that the bluster will do is to encourage more drug importing. It hasn't worked in the past.

I had to look up TPP, I have not been following that.

ice is a terrible drug. is now highly addictive. and users are violent while using it as opposed to mellow while on other drugs.

every possible resource should be used to stop it's usage from spreading

It seems that most bi-polar sufferers have a history of amphetamaine use in their youth, or childhood, but I haven't heard what the long term effects of methamphetamine are. Some people use it as a recreational drug only, and have no problems. Same as any other drug.
