car confiscation

I have thought for years that people caught drink driving should loose their cars .I see they are finaly going to start taking cars for 30 days in Victoria for offenders.

In NSW we seem to be constantly reading of people with no licence driving,driving drunk or drugged or just constant bad driving and yet it is only possible to take cars off teens doing burnouts ect.

It seems crazy that cars are not confiscated for serious offences, especially if its a repeat offender.I think if people are just going to ignore restrictions or reoffend take the car... I dont give a hoot if they are inconvenienced or even if they are not cars owner it may make them think if they loose their car.Very least if they cannot access one they are off the road.

I dont drive but its one law that im really passionate about I cannot believe we allow people to keep something as deadly as a car if they clearly are not safe with it.

I assume by "drink driving" you mean like beer or hard liqure. However, there are distracted driving laws in some places where they can get you for drinking, water, eating a sandwich, talking on a cell phone, listening to music, or even talking to a passenger in a car.

Personally, I think it all falls under "pre crime" if the driver hasn't yet caused an accedent. Don't get me wrong, I'm against what you call "drink driving" and many other things that can impair or distract the driver, the question I have to ask is, are these laws in place for saftey reasons alone, or to collect money in fines and reinstatment fees..

News flash....... contrary to popular belief, especially in the media, Alcohol is a drug (driving drunk OR drugged)

I trust that the law would include those that continually drive vehicles while under the influence of prescribed drugs such as Oxycontin, Targan, Valium, Prozac etc (but never get tested for same...(not till a fatal accident occurs and blood samples are taken at least) but are left to decide themselves while drugged whether they are capable or not to drive

I bet 54 cents you will never ever hear the mainstream media whipping up a storm re the

unknown risks taken by legally drugged drivers who think they are ok to drive because

the Doctor precsribed it for them...

Anything to do with information re DRUGGED driving advertising/information/warnings

IMO is tarred and feathered in hypocrisy favouring prescribed drugs over illicit ones

when the potential for abuse is actually greater with precsription drugs.................

Only 30 days? Here in NY they keep you car and sell it, lol.

Although there isn't a distracted driver law (like drinking water, or talking), but there should be. I'm constantly having to alert the person in front of me that the light is green...they're too busy texting. It's illegal to use a phone while driving, unless it's hands free. Some of these people appear to having a picnic while driving. I think Germany has some great laws about these things.

I see it everyday, and it can be as dangerous as a drunk driver. Sometimes driving among these idiots I dream of pulling them over and smashing their phone, then drive away, lol.
