I'd have bought one, but I have no desire to join 'Pinterest' to do so. Sorry.

UK TV is awash with mind numbing soaps, a staggeringly amount of 'Foodie' programmes, each having their own 'celebrtity' chef (how do they attain the sobriquet of 'celebrity', because prior to this, nobody has ever heard of them ?), programmes renovating/selling/buying houses, programmes containing the word 'celebrity' in the title, sport screenings, 'wannabe' shows ('X Factor', 'BGT', 'The Voice'), and a never ending supply of repeats.

And for this privilege, we have to fork out £134.50 per annum, which, whether you watch it or not, goes to the BBC.

Not even 'QI', 'HIGNFY', and 'Mock the Week' is worth that much cash.

P.S.

For the latest 'foodie' offering, ITV have now turned their attention to barbecues, with 'BBQ Champ' being shown this week.

Hubs and I like watching the Escape to the Country shows, and Grand Designs.

I do miss the Brit crime shows like Silent Witness and Wire in the Blood.

Those hoarder shows are awful- I hate that judgemental tone the hosts adopt.

What about that ~~disgusting~~ embarrassing bodies series? Once seen cannot be unseen...

People need help- not to be filmed and used as fodder, as 'entertainment'..

PS I have watched a couple of hoarder shows, but only 1 embarrassing bodies- that was more than enough for me.

I used to love the British comedy shows. They were great family entertainment until one after the other resorted to filth and trying to outdo each other.

They also had great crime stories where the female cast looked normal and not dollied up like the Hollywood stars.

TV shows have changed tremenduously. Not for the better and nothing worth watching.

I rather read a book.

Currently watching George Gently re-runs, really liked Martin Shaw in Judge John Deed, but couldn't stand him in the original The Professionals - couldn't take my eyes off Bodie.

And Steptoe and Sons, Open All Hours, were some of the funniest shows on TV. There is something special about English humour as opposed to American humour.

Oh and Dave Allen.
