Yes, it was probably a rort, and it is certainly only the tip of a huge iceberg. I suspect there are currently quite a few MPson both sides of the house flooking anxiously over their shoulders right now There are a couple of differences though. Whatever outrage and punishment would have been appropriate at the time,Tony Burke is no longer a government minister and therefore holds no position of authority from which he can be sacked. If he were to be sacked from parliament, then logically Bronny would have to go too.

Also, greedy and unehtical as Burke's claim may have been, it probably did fall within the permitted guidelines - Bishop's didn't'

Parliament is not sitting, and there's no real news. The media appears to be hyping us all.

Is it just the actual Entitlements List that is being cried over by the media?

Or the overpayment by the "approver" of the Entitlement, and subsequent payback request being made public?

this is an older article but unfortunately they all seem to do it. imo they shouldn't be taking their family anywhere on taxpayers money nor shouldl taxpayers be footing the bill for any party fund raising. fund raising expenses should be paid for by the various parties.

in BB's case, the speaker is supposed to be bi partisan, and not supposed to have anything to do with fundraising on top of all the tax payer charges, so her case is a little different to the others

I suspect that all of our pollies rort the entitlement / allowances system.

and that's why I'm not optimistic that anything meaningful will be done by them to fix it.

Maybe they should have an amnesty. Give them all 90 days to repay anything thats not strictly work related and then have an investigation. Any monies repaid in the 90 days will be off limits to public scrutiny, anything not repaid goes under investigation.

They really are a crooked bunch.

What about Joe Hockey using a charter plane in 2014 to meet Jacqui Lambi, at a cost of $11,800.- ???

Commercial planes go to Tasmania on a regular basis and cost only a fraction of that price.

Bishop's helicopter fight was not connected in any way with ministerial - or even parliamentary - business. It was to attend a fund raising event for the Liberal Party.

Burke's flight was connected with ministerial business - and while claiming business class fares for his family was - as I said - greedy and unethical, I suspect it is permitted within the guidelines. And I don't think anyone is suggesting he should have taken a comcar to Uluru instead of flying there

so, as an 'office holder' is she not entitled

to chartered transport when performing her

duties? she was also there to attend meetings.

so what exactly did she do that was not in
