I went to the official opening of the Crocodile Hotel in Kakadu. We got all sorts of crocodile memorabilia, my OH got a crocodile wallet and I got a croc skin key ring and a bookmark. What a night. woo hooo!!

Oh wow! That Crocodile Hotel is just fabulous, what a great piece of architecture, and so appropriate, it's wonderful

This is a picture of the Saffire resort in Tasmania which represents a manta ray. It's not quite as realistic as the Crocodile Hotel regarding the shape, but not bad at all.

We're thinking about spending Christmas there this year.

Oh gawd Stawks, we wouldn't be paying that .... I guess we were thinking of some kind of package deal .. but $2000, nah, we'll take the tent ... Not that we've got a tent mind you, we're not good at camping, but something close ...

We've been to Wineglass Bay though, beautiful place.

One memorable "camping" experience for us was when we hired a pop-top van which refused to pop the top.

With everything inside the van which we couldn't get into, the only alternative we had, until the next morning, was to plead with the caravan park owner for the spare room in his house on the premises. Wonderful man was so kind and supplied everything, and next morning, called a caravanning place in the next town who sent a man out to fix our wheeled abode for us.

We were able to get the rental of the van refunded for two days, had it for five altogether.

From that time, it was decided campers we are not, and to heck with tents ....

I used to love camping with the family when they were younger. Not bush camping mind you, I always had to have a shower and a flush toilet But we were always in tents. As the boys got bigger they each had their own little dome tent. We had quite a little village setup by the time we finished.

There's no housework to speak of, everyone can come and go as they please and it's OK to give them BBQ'd sausages every night for dinner

Im not sure I would like it if there were crocodiles around though

My friend John Wilkins was the architect for the building. It's totally fabulous and the pool in the middle is to die for.

First time I "camped" was an overnighter.

Supplies: 1 box matches, 1 pack cards (still have them in the glovebox), 1 cribbage board, 1 pk sausages, 1 fishing knife, 2 lengths of wire, 1 pk fish bait, 1 fishing rod.

Sleeping arrangements: Back and front bench seats in an HR sedan with luxury of pillows and nana rugs.

Lesson: 1. Act like a kid - you'll enjoy it. 2. When it's raining, you'll learn more about the person you're with. 3. Once is enough.
