That happened to me.

I was assisting an elder gent whom had just accidentally reversed onto footpath taking out posts and fixed benches.

Lucky he didn't hit anyone.

There was a young guy that was asking him if he was ok and I was trying to help the man out of the car.

The man reached for his wallet on the seat and we realised the young guy had taken off with it.

Very low.

After police and tow truck had been I called a taxi and prepaid it as he didn't have any money.

few years back hubby and were doing the woolies shopping and a very elderly lady went head first into the shelves droped her bag and tins were everywere

we were helping her up and i went to pick up her bag and she grabed hold of it and pulled it of me plucky old lady that

had her wits about her we have a laugh about it sometimes but its also sad that nowdays you just cant trust anyone

even if they seem to be helping you

Some one I had known since we were teenagers killed her self and one of her neighbours went in and stole her purse and even the toilet paper, he was caught using her credit card.

Now that is as low as you can get

A big problem of stolen valets and bags is created by the new Swipe Credit Cards. Anyone can use them quick and easy, no matter who they belong to.

I will never own one of those cards. I love m card that can only be usd with a pin number.

Low life are sually drug addicts, desperate to get money for their next fix.

Erica, I'm guessing that your card will swipe with the new 'touch and go' anyway.

They seem to making them all like that now.

Thanks, Stawka, I will have to try it next time I go into town.

If it does swipe, I may revert to using a Cheque book again.

I don't have much money, but what I have has to pay the bills every fortnight. Don't want to loose the little thats left.

You have to set it up with your financial institution first though

Golly gosh! Nothing is secure today anymore.

Yes, Stawka, some of my bills get paid automatically by my Bank, but others that fluctuate in ammounts I pay with my card or cash.

The day my purse will be stolen I'll ring the Bank first before reporting to Police. Thank goodness our Bank has 24/7 help service and will stop an account being used if reported by a person who can give their password to that account.

I am an old lady now, walking slowly with an obvious limp, just the right target to get robbed by lowlife in broad daylight just walking through a busy Shopping centre.

Yes, that's Direct Debit, but your your power bills - (gas electricity etc.)

they all should have a Bpay symbol on them for payment by phone

But only if you have telephone banking. It's much quicker and safer to pay them by phone, straight from your bank account.

It's just a series of button pushing, when prompted - all automated and then they

give you a receipt number to write down as proof of payment.

I pay everything by phone. No need to get cash out of the bank

Stawka, I only have electricity, no gas. My Bank pays a set amount every fortnight to my electricity server. In summer I finish up in credit, this balances out with the winter bill.

What I am talking about is for instant our Chemist bill, new glasses, paymnts to see specialists or car repairs. Also the fortnightly grocery shopping fluctuates from payday to payday.

And for some little things I just need cash.

look at your card, if it does the swipe/tap/wave thing its got a symbol on it. mines top right corner, says visa paywave

i just got the replacement card a few weeks ago. my old card didnt have paywave.

i didnt ask for paywave its just been added. ive used it a few times, i keep forgetting, it is very easy for low cost items.

i dont like the fact its now got no security if it gets into the wrong hands even though thats extremely unlikely.

the 'it can only be used to make chages up to $100' thing the card makers are using as the 'well its ok then' sales pitch doesnt wash with me. these theives can make multiple charges in a very short time. even if you discover your cars missing quickly.

then theres the whole other problem where clever buggas can steal info from your card while its in your wallet in your pocket!

David, my card doesn't have wavey things on it and I was never advised that

I could use it that way. I also didn't want it. It has a micro chip embedded in it for

inserting, not swiping

I was shopping with my daughter at the self serve at Coles and she just waved it

for me and ..............bluddy hell, it worked.

I've tried it elsewhere and most times it works, others not.

David, you need a wallet with an RFID blocker

RFID-blocking wallets are designed to help insulate you from a very particular brand of electronic pickpocketing, called RFID skimming. The concern is that some credit cards, passports, and driver's licenses now come with embedded radio frequency identification chips.

There is a solution for this problem. You can buy (for less than $5) a pack of three little card sized RFID envelopes that shield your card from being scanned by thieving lowlifes.

I got mine from the AANT shop here in Darwin but I would think they should be available elsewhere. You can also get wallets that have the RFID shield built in but these little envelopes are cheaper.

ok, maybe my old card had and i didnt know

it was just when i opened the envolope with my new card the paper page it was stuck to had a big speal about how i now had 'paywave' i assumed my old card didnt have it. the old card had the microchip bit on it.
