Changes to the boards.

I think everyone here needs to be aware of what eBay is planning for the boards, and also have a look at what they've done to the US and UK boards.

Then please comment on the thread.....if we keep quiet about what we think of the changes we will almost certainly end up with a carbon copy of the .com boards.

I understand why padi started a thread on the buying board as well as the selling board. Members should ensure they view both as posts on one won't be repeated on the other.

A lot of thought has been given to these changes by michelleoz and her team, so one thing we can be sure of is that changes are coming regardless of what members post on these boards. What we have a chance to do is voice our opinions about these changes and I ask that members post here, on padi's other thread and on michelleoz's thread.

TO ALL THOSE WHO READ BUT DO NOT POST, please post (even just once) to let eBay know what you think of these changes. For those that read but do not post - your board experience is about to change dramatically.

Sure would be nice if they spent as much time and energy on all the things that actually NEED fixing. Instead of ~~destroying~~ fixing something that is fine how it is

Yes I did, but there is no point telling them to leave it alone when they have already told us what changes are going to be introduced as early as next week.

They need to hear what is wrong with the changes that are definitely in the pipeline.

Ok, you asked me to post so here's my take on the issue.

You obviously regard your association with eBay as an opportunity to operate an enterprising business capable of a financial return,l suggest that the other handfull of supporters probably share that experience as well.

Tell me, do you have a business plan that includes reviewing your operation policies and proceedures? Most successfull business owners that I know have this proceedure in place and return to visit them when they realize that the influences that determine their operations are evolving, or they are simply looking to improve the company's values going forward.

In this instance I see eBay doing just that, It's my opinion that a company that sits on their hands isn't going anywhere.

You and the 6 or 7 posters on here were not a part of any decisions eBay has made regarding their policies, Your quoted post reveals that you know that you never had, and never will, influence the eBay policy decision makers.

Whether they are good or bad decisions, whether you like the look of them, or don't like the look of them is not an issue - how you deal with the changes is the real issue. Posting links, and complaining. and attempting to recruit support, that seems to be capable of doing little more than talk in circles and, is very slow in arriving,s not going to change anything.

For mine I would be doing my best to make the changes work for me, if I thought Ineeded to alter my business plan to accommodate the changes , then I would. On the other hand if the changes were insurmountable, and they dis-advantaged me to the extent that I couldn't find a way forward, I would pack my bags.

There's no doubt that some will want to argue with me about this - well.. good luck with that.

How little you know about the consultation behind the board changes.....and that is all we are talking about here....changes to the boards.

With all the experience of 5 posts on the boards it will obviously not affect you too much, but think of all the members who do use the boards for information and socialisation.

I do eBay as a hobby, and rarely sell, certainly not an enterprising business in any way, shape or form.

I don't have a business plan. When I do sell on eBay I review my return policy . . . . . . is that good enough?

Rare indeed, trying to offer advice for a change.

My motivation for engaging/encouraging others in discussion about the ~~proposed~~ impending changes is to make them aware of the implications. That's why I post screengrabs and links, so others can see what is in store.

My other motivation is to ensure that I do everything I can to see that members still have a workable environment in which they can get help when they need it, and I would stack my history of helping members against yours (and that of your other ID) any day.

Selling on ebay has nothing to do with upcoming changes to the boards.

Would've been good if you'd actually read ebay's announcement whilst you were lurking.

Being aware of changes to the boards and somehow managing to stop eBay from shooting themselves in the foot are two vastly different things. Like most big businesses with issues that need to be fixed, their answer is to 'update' things that don't really matter as much and in fact probably don't need to change at all.

(I might as well get in a mention on this forum something not eBay related while I can):

I call it the COLES ONLINE SHOPPING Syndrome.
