Looking to buy a new SS AC, atm I am considering either a Kelvinator or a Panasonic .... Any suggestions ps?

Check online via reviews as that will generally give you a heads up if a particular model has hassles associated

with it,(it should also give you running costs for each model and size).

If you have a choice between two go with the bigger capacity one as it it will run better,(it wont have to work as

hard as the smaller unit).

We had a Panasonic 5KW at our old place and that warmed up the 40 square metre area that it was for quite

well.

The SS is now at my MIL's place and I tried to get the amount of noise they make and put it on video,(but it

To me it's fairly quiet,(maybe go to a few businesses and see what system they have in place and how much

noise they make?).

We now have a smaller Fujitsu SS and to me the sound of the Panasonic is similar.

I cannot comment on the Panasonic split system in particular but I have long been a fan of anything Panasonic....from plain old fans to TVs, DVDs, slow cookers etc. If Panasonic makes it we have probably used it at some time in the past.

I agree re Panasonic, I have a Panasonic TV , very happy with it. My fridge is a Kelvinator, never had a prob with it, so that's why I thought I would choose between one of these brands.

Re noise Thanks for trying Tazz, atm I have a wall mounted Carrier RC AC, the noise drives me nuts, so I want something that is quiet

We have Fujitsus so I can't comment about the noise levels but, as go-tazz suggests, definitely check the online reviews.

I also looked at the Choice reviews before purchasing.

It was much queiter then our wall mounted RC AC,(well ours "rattled" and seemed to vibrate a bit).

Yeah the wall mounted ac's are "steam age" now, mine is rigth above my desk, it works really well but the noise drives me crazy, so it needs to be replaced.

It's good that you're thinking about that as it needs to go in the right spot.

When we changed units the SS was put in a spot that wasn't as efficient,(it was set in the middle when it was

first installed but the window configuration was changed on this unit so they put it more in towards a corner

and it doesn't work as well from there).

During summer we had to have a fan going to blow it towards the seating area,(we've since changed the

seating area to compensate so we don't need the fan).

Thats a bummer Tazz, I have 2 options available, hoping option 1 will be suitable. Am going into HN tomorrow morning to check out SS's but wont purchase it until the tradie has been 'n oked that the installation wont be a prob.
