Protection Visas? Who's protecting us?

A "glamorous" husband and wife are two of three people arrested as part of a drug bust in Hornsby yesterday.

The bust comes following an ongoing investigation into the movement of the drug ice in Sydney.

Searching the trio's homes in Hornsby and Asquith respectively, police reportedly found 36kg of methamphetamine, more than 100 phials of steroids, $260,000 in cash, luxury cars, and a cash counting machine.

The husband and wife have been identified as Iranian refugees, in Australia on temporary protection visas since 2013.

A short look through the couple's Facebook pages shows the pair were married in 2014 and now have two children.

The duo has been arrested and charged with supplying a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug and participating in a criminal enterprise.

The third individual has been charged as an accessory after the fact.

All three face court on Thursday.

Straight for deportation regardless of current status.

A Melbourne hospital dealt with 7500 violent attacks against it's healthcare workers last year.

Predominantly drug fuelled.

So because of these Iranian idiots, we have violence escalating all over Australia.

Imagine what Iran would do to this family if they were conducting a drug business there.

Quite a business they've established in under 4 years here.

Unfortunately, their two small children were born here. They will be allowed to stay.

But will they? Who is here to look after them?

A good lawyer (a do-gooder) will get the parents off or at least allow them to stay in Australia because the kids are Australian and they are too young to look after themselves.

It has happened before and you can bet it will happen again.

Not so sure on this one as it appears they have been dealing in large quantities.

And if the children are very young, better chance of re-settling back in the middle east.

I think the prosecution will be throwing the book at this one.

It's about time that a clause gets added to every visa stating that if they become involved in major crime/s then

they will not hold the Australian Government responsible when they get deported.

They need to have laws in place that carry an automatic deportion charge if they commit certain crimes.

Obviously they believe that they wont be deported as they are on a protection visa but the visa should be

cancelled and they should face deportation,(along with their children as they put them in this situation and they

can't blame anyone but themselves).

I had lunch with a cousin only a couple of weeks ago who lives in Murray Bridge. ( the town featured in the story ). He said the place was simply riddled with hard drugs. He would like to move because of the problem, but his house is unsaleable and he would never get enough money for it to move anywhere else so he is trapped. His own family has been touched by the drug problems with devastating results.

Another nephew who lived in Murray bridge managed to get out around 12 months ago. Their house was on the market for many months and in the end they just sold it for whatever they could get ( at a huge loss ) as they had young children and did not want them to go to school in the town. A family related to the local prison moved into a house nearby and the street became a centre for hard drug dealing. Clapped out cars coming and going constantly and regular outbreaks of verbal abuse, petty crime etc.

Murray Bridge has a major prison which attracts families of inmates. It also has a large " new migrant " population, many of whom do not speak English. The parents come looking for cheap housing and work in the agricultural service industries, but unfortunately the teenage kids often get into trouble. It also has a very large population of long term unemployed people, attracted by the cheap housing and extensive government social services who dont contribute much to the town. It also has a strong indiginous community, who have all of the same social problems as other marginilised aboriginal communities.

The local meatworks is the towns largest employer and that has recently recieved very extensive damage in a fire. Around 1000 people have lost their jobs as a result. I had the " opportunity " to spend a day at the Murray Bridge court house recently, supporting a friend. ( who was a victim of gung ho SA policing, had not done anything wrong and was not convicted ) Boy was that an eye opener.

The place has almost become a ghetto, or like something out of a Mad Max movie. I dont think the article is exagerating the extent of the problem and I am sure there would be many, many pre teenage ice addicts in the town. Drive down the backstreets on any school day and you see these young kids wandering around.

Pity really as Murray Bridge was once a proud, clean, important & vibrant regional centre with none of the issues it faces today. Its a classic example of how a place can be trashed when succesive governments decide to use it as dumping ground for societies problems. ( gets them out of the city and all in one place, removed from societies gaze, unless you take the road off of the main highway and visit the place )

Well thats a coincidence

While I was typeing that lot out I sold something to some-one in Murray Bridge. They want to know if they can drive a very very long way to my place and pick the small item up. ( While I have rellies there and do go to Murray Bridge from time to time its nowhere near me ).... ........... all a bit strange really as they would spend A LOT more in fuel than the postage cost and several hours driving too & from my town ............ I suppose it would be a nice drive in the country if you had nothing else to do all day..........

I think you will find that the children cannot be deported.

Deportation means sending them back to where they came from....the children were born here! I also doubt that the parents home country would accept them either as they are Australian citizens.

While the prosecution has an excellent chance of throwing the book at the parents, deporting them may be a different matter.....the do-gooders will keep the case in the courts for many years to come purely because of the children's ages. I would bet that the whole family stays here till the children are grown up and no longer dependant on their parents.....then the parents might be deported.
