Springy, that's a good point.
I'm guessing that if Melania had an umbrella then Donald would have to have a better one and because there is no gold plated umbrella available she gets nothing

In all honesty I suspect the guy has a genuine mental health condition which prevents him from appreciating the emotions of others. Phsychopathy maybe ? In the past I have read articles where experts suggest many of the world leaders show psychopathic tendencies which accounts for them so ruthlessly achieving power. If this is the case, the guy genuinely cant see a problem with what he is doing.

It would help to explain a lot of his strange behavior.

I think a lot of it comes from the fact he has been a wealthy business owner for so long & in pretty much complete control.

Many years ago I used to teach a little boy who did not mix well. He would hit others & push them out of his way, he was a bully and made life unpleasant for everyone..

At parent teacher interviews I brought up (as tactfully as I could) the fact that he had a few problems socially and his mother's reaction was a classic, I can still recall it.

"It doesn't matter, we own a business and one day he will be the boss so he doesn't need to get on with people, they'll need to do what they are told.'

I often think of that when I hear about Trump, it seems to sum up his mind set beautifully. Not saying all people with money or all business owners are like this, but for sure, some leaders are.

Well, i wonder how long it took the kid to run the business to the ground. If you treat people badly, the good ones find another job where they are treated well. Those who put up with such s**t are the hopeless and useless ones, and even those will not be very enthusiastic workers if they have no respect for the boss.

You would think so, wouldn't you. I had exactly the same thought-glad i don't work for them.

But since then (and that was back about 25 years ago) I have personally known 4 other people whose immediate bosses at their workplace have acted like that. One was a small workplace where the boss actually tore up someone's medical certificate and told them they were not to leave the building, they were to stay and do paperwork. That boss treated a few of his staff very badly, no integrity. They left but more moved in and the business is still going well.

Some of the other instances have been bosses of bigger places and yes, some people move on but not everyone has the luxury of doing that, unfortunately. I don't think they are necessarily hopeless or useless workers but maybe they don't have much English, maybe they depend on the job to support a family, pay the rent. If it is an unskilled or low skilled job, then there may not be much else around so they get stuck in the job till they can find something better.

I know of one workplace though where the workers were actually skilled tradesmen (usually newly qualified) or apprentices & not paid regularly or on time, the list went on. Yes, many moved on including my friend's son, but always there were new people who moved into the gaps.

What has surprised me is all of those business men are still doing fine. Doing very well in fact. The last one-he has closed about 3 businesses and reopened as a new one the next week. It makes it harder for ex staff to make claims on a business that no longer exists, apparently.

The one consistent theme I feel is for some people, power must go to their head & they get too used to getting their own way in everything, think they have the divine right.

I'm lucky as all my bosses have been considerate, decent people but I honestly think the mean gene, that dog eats dog, strive to get ahead at any cost attitude is part of what gets some people to the top in the first place. Wish they could tone it down a bit once they arrive though.
