Put them in the park if they must have them.

Dunolly's main street is an historic gold mining town with many significant buildings.

I've spent quite a bit of time in Dunolly. Friends owned one of the pubs for quite a few years.

And my mum was born just up the road in Tarnagulla.

What does bother me is the amount of money. The article says the back of the statue is mosaic tiles painted by members of the community.

And yet the artist was paid? Were the members of the community paid for their work?

They belong in a park or gardens. As artworks i quite like them except for the 1st one. But given that Dunnolly has retained its gold mine atmosphere I think they clash and look stupid there.

Reminds me of the sculpture The Yellow Peril, a huge brilliant yellow geometric shape that was plonked in Melbourne's city square years ago which created such a furore of criticism that it was eventually moved to the city's outskirts , and left to wither away. (Will provide a link later).

The artist was paid thousands for it though.

nope

I think they look good-very colourful-and it seems the children of the local area drew the pictures these were based on.

So I think they are relevant pieces of art, but maybe not for the main street.

Would there be a park somewhere near the school or kindergarten? Maybe near a walking or bike track? It would be great if the art could be somewhere like that, where the children could see it.
